Ideas on helping me to pass SMOG

Just moved to CA with a TurboXS stage 4 package on a 2002 WRX(TMIC, UP, DP, hi-flow midpipe, turbo, injectors).

I went in and had a pretest and am high on my idle HC count(179 measured, 100 max). Everything else is plenty within limits.

Apparently I'm ok on everything else(I won't argue and won't ask questions).

Any ideas for getting this last hurdle jumped? I brought the car in hot, so that's no go. I don't have the stock exhaust, so that's a no go as well.

I just dumped a bottle of injector cleaner(Redline) in there, and was still on that tank of gas during the test, would that matter?

Thanks in advance for the help.

yeah just throw a stock turbo-bac on and you'll be fine, if you dont have one, just walk far enough down the street in hayward or fremont and you'll eventually trip over one, people damn near give them away, or call Gruppe-S, they have tons of old exhausts and DPs they throw out all the time

Surprisingly yes. Didn't even say anything about the large intercooler that the company was nice enough to put 'APS' across in large red letters. Didn't ask where the other 2 cats were either.

No other options than stock turboback huh? Nobody's had any experiance with chemicals, or tweaking settings on the UTEC?

Stock turbo back is the best way to go. I passed with an aftermarket up-pipe and stock turboback at the State Referee.

no way around reducing unburnt fuel my friend. through on a stock TBE and be done with it.
I suppose you could risk blowing your motor and put in some 87 octane so the fuel detonates, then the motor runs off the unburnt fuel left in the cylinder, but that is a crappy and risky thing to try.

Quit being a weenie and just get a stock TBE for the test.

Did you really think you could set up a smog mode ala UTEC? ...and then just flick a switch every few years to pass...Or pour a magic formula down the gas tank?

Why are you asking for other opinions, when the only cheap, viable, and not to mention the BEST option has been mentioned and endorsed a few times already.

Also, a place may pre-test and just run their machines and not bother with the visual --do know for a fact they didn't skip this step...looks like you didn't ask many questions. When the real test happens, they may have a different opinion on the obvious lack of 2 cats. Getting stock exhaust tb also avoids this hassle.

Not sure about UTEC, but I plan to throw on the stock DP/MP and put my Cobb AP in economy mode when I need to pass smog.
