iBook help!!

Never really got into Apple's/Mac's and the other day my friend gave me an iBook G3 he had laying around. No charger, dead battery so I hit up my cousin who's family has had nothing but Apple computers. Luckily he had a good battery and charger and even a iBook G3 he hadn't used in years. Only issue with his is that the motherboard was fried and Apple said it cost $700 to fix it. Obviously he wasnt going to shell out that kind of cash when for a little bit more he could get something newer and a lot better. We power up the iBook my friend gave me and immediately notice the screen is jacked. Works but has some cracked lines in and that whole liquid lcd screen going on. As the iBook is powering up, we noticed a pop up about an error and then it restarts. So we figure we'll take the motherboard from the bad iBook I received and swap it into his. Also the iBook I had had an Airport card which was nice upgrade. So we get the motherboard out and I take everything home to swap. For some unknown reason I think "Hey why dont I hook up the charger and just see what it does." Low and behold my cousins iBook works hahaha So now I'm playing around with his iBook, doesn't work too bad but I am noticing some issues. For one, the thing is so outdated it had 15 updates ranging from Safari to Security updates. So I start on the updates and after getting through half of them, the updating fails when it gets to the Security updates. I've tried it a few times and same thing, I'll be restarting it today and seeing if that clears anything up. Other thing I'm noticing is when I'm on Safari some websites are completely different. Im figuring it has to do with the Flash and Java not being up to date. So when I try to download the updates, I can't. For example, when I tried to download the Flash update and it asks for me to select which version to download, I select the version and I dont get any kind of button or pop up to download it. Any ideas on how I can fix this? I know this thing is accent, so I'm not expecting a powerhouse machine, but something I could browse all websites on and basically use it as a web book is what I want.

yeah, R&R is the best way. Get a Tiger DVD and reformat and reinstall.
