hey onemanarmy,

sucks that you got popped. thought i'd offer you some help on your windshield. i had a crack on mine a while back, and my crappy insurance didnt cover it. so call up this guy.

Elmer Ramirez

he took care of me for about 180 or so? tell him you found im from i-club. or mention my name, or mention that you are part of a suby club to get him to give you the good pricing. but if you call, and a lady with an accent picks up to give you a quote, ask to speak to elmer directly. ask for his cell phone, and he'll know whats up. the lady doesnt know how to give pricing it seems. lemmie know if that helps or not.

Talking

When you sped up temporarily to overtake another vehicle it is legal to exceed the posted limit. That one will be easy to fight. The intersection one can also be argued easily if you contend that you were back in your lane a reasonable distance from the intersection.

Did you pass on a broken yellow line (passing zone)?

Here's the deal: If you were driving like a stupid mf'er and should have gotten a wreckless driving ticket, the cop shot himself in the foot for charging you with the other infractions. Of course you had to speed up to quickly and safely pass the truck, and if he's arguing over a couple feet one way or another, his ticket will not stick.

Get the fix-it portions fixed asap, and fight the infractions by mail! Look at the backside of the ticket for instructions.

If I were you I'd get a postponement for as long as possible once the fix-it portions are settled. The cop will forget you over time unless you made some impression on him.

Side note:
When I used to get tickets on my motorcycle I used to leave my helmet on... then you can call them on lying if you ask them in court if they recognize you!!! ahahahah f'n doughnut lovers! When I'm in my car I never look at them... how the heck will they remember you that way

Actually, exceeding the posted limit at any time is illegal. The reason to pass is when someone is not going to limit. You're supposed to speed up to the limit and gently pass them, legally that is. Personally I put the hammer down and don't let up until I'm past them, which is where my last ticket came from. Thankfully he didn't get a clean shot at me, but did get the car I passed and it was doing 3 over the limit, based on that I got a "speeding" ticket with an estimated speed of 70 in a 55(good thing he didn't clock me whew).

Huh? Where do you get that? There's two fix-its that'll cost him probably 20 bucks each with proof of correction, and two single-point citations. If he wasn't going to fix the correctable offenses it would be $1000 maybe.

Again, where did you pull that out of? Seriously, have you read any unsafe speed vehicle codes? The majority of speeders get hit with violating unsafe speed for condition laws if you actually look up the VC.

Yep, and that's what he did. It is lawful to exceed the posted limits when safe.

This was on highway 4 outside of brentwood, as straight as can be, clean sunny day, 1 car in front of me, 5 behind me, no cars oncoming, and a cop hiding in a fruit grove.

Where did I get it from? My neighbor who is CHP and his son who is SJPD.
Municipal limits are prima facie and state highway limits are absolute.

And yes I have read the VC, I have a copy of the 2005 CA VC sitting on my desk at home, I had the county and city VCs as well but can't remember out who I loaned them to.

Aww... not good, bruddah! Sorry to hear ya got nabbed! I hope it doesn't put too much of a strain on the wallet.

I'll have to burn ya a copy of some mellow elevator music mixed in w/ some smooth jazz and topped off w/ a healthy dose of anti-adrenaline classical. Although the man came down on ya, at least he wasn't condescending to you. But it was likely b/c you were respectful & all.

Do I even need to ask if ya had a blast on the mountain? Your endorphins were probably still firing like crazy from the "pow pow high". Ya couldn't help but drive like a bat outta hell!

dude get this!!!!!

So I go to lunch today and bring my tickets along to look over. Dude wrote fix the window in 48 hours on the ticket. So I freaked out cause that's tomorrow at like 10am. So I found a local place that hand a windshield in. Cost me $366 freakin dollars. PISSED.

want to know the best part. I was on my way home with my shiney new window and guess what happens. Some delivery truck drops a load of rocks off his mudflaps right in front of me and a rock bounces up and cracks my windshield.

This is some bull crap man. 20 minutes earlier I was handing some dude asking for money for a bus ticket home $5 and I get this crap.

I'm freakin unemployed. Busting my butt in school trying to get back on top of things and all this junk falls on me. What are the odds man. Brand new windshield go bang.

Gonna cost me $65 to fix the stupid crack now.

If it was a commercial truck, you should have called the company and asked them to fix it. I used to work for a concrete delivery yard and that happened all the time.

Cops are stupid and lose in court all the time. I don't give a f* if state highway limits are absolute. I beat a ticket doing 88 in a 65 (or was it 55?) on state 101. The cop wrote me for 88 but admitted he didn't lock me on radar until 77 (I slammed on the brakes). He said he was not stopping motorists doing 75, so whatever the vc said was out the door... the cop determines what's a reasonable/safe speed. I argued it's not reasonable to say that 77 is unsafe if traveling 75 is completely safe.

They got all confused and needless to say I won HHAHAHAHA doughnut munchers!
