Well it finally happened. I got popped by the man. Well deserved I might add.
My way home from snowboarding I come up on this truck doing 40 mph in a 65 zone trailed by one other truck. So I make the pass. I apparently passed to late and got back over within 100 feet of an intersection...that one I'm not so sure on. But right after the intersection I made the pass on the truck pulling trailor. I'm guessing the CHP was on the right side of the road and I didn't see him behind the truck when I made the pass.
I hit 4th gear just as I looked up to see his lights come on behind me.
I got hit with 4 tickets. Luckily not the 6 or so he could have got me on.
Ticket 1. 88 in a 65
Ticket 2. Passing within 100 feet of an intersection
Ticket 3. Broken windshield
Ticket 4. No front plate.
He didn't get me for my tints. He didn't get me for my exhaust or even ask to look under the hood...obviously not in the bay area..haaa. I know he heard me open it up.
He also didn't get me for the wreckless driving he was gonna get me on.
He had some mercy on me for 2 reasons. One is that my record WAS perfectly clean. These are my first tickets in like 5 years...last ticket was in the EXACT same place.
other reason is that I was very cool and treated him with much respect...
oh the good ones...I couldn't find proof of registration. he let that one go along with using a 3 year old proof of insurance.
He was a nice guy.
I figure I'll go to court for it. Plead guilty. Try to get my fines reduced. Get traffic school to knock one of the points off.
How much do you guys think this will run me?
Need a connection for a windshield as well since that I only have 30 days to do.

Dang, sorry to hear man.
I also got a ticket recently on my trip down to socal. Got pulled over for doing 96 in a 70 zone on Highway 5, just before LA County.
The cop pulled both my car and my friend's car over. =(
The cop had no mercy on me.
And since it is so far away for me, going to court down there is not even worth it to try to reduce the fine.
Hopefully you can get traffic school, do all the tickets add up to one point?? or is each of the ticket worth one point?

oh man. That sucks.
Well we all make mistakes, this was one of yours. Get that front plate on, and get that windshield fixed.
Call up Absolute Auto Glass, (831)469-3000 they are down in Santa Cruz across the street from the VW/Dodge dealership on Soquel. I paid $340 for my front windshield there, they might be able to help you out if you are short on cash.
Good luck man.

I don't know how the point thing works. I thought it was 2 citations 2 points. But justin just told me that since it's on one ticket that it counts as one point so if I go to traffic school I'll still have ZERO on my record...which would be nice.
Anyone have any clue on how much I'm looking here? I'm kind of expecting the neighborhood of $600. Hopefully if I show up and get traffic school they give me some reductions. but I just had a conversations with some locals that told me the new cops up there are crooked as hell. Last time the judge cut NO slack to anyone. One homeless guy was gonna be making payments til he was like 120 years old.
Yeah..I know I skrewed up so no lectures on blah blah blah. I don't expect to get off. Even if I go to court I'm gonna pleid guilty. I was strait HALLING ***!!! I made some serious time coming through the canyon part of highway 4. I know for damn sure I lifted tires a half dozen times. Freaking black sabbath had me going.
should have known better. I know where they hide up there. on top of that I'm still unemployed so I can't be throwing money around like this. Idiot me.
Anyways. My questions.
1. anyone know how that point system deal works for sure in relation to my record and traffic school.
2. the windshield deal....
3.
SO what do you think, time for an ESCORT or what? Sorry to hear about that man. I had quite a long ride home last night. No traffic, just long and boring. Did it snow up there again last night?

I'll get those VC numbers tomorrow.
oh and snowboarder.....I'm always the first to admit being wrong. I'd say so if I didn't feel I deserved it. I've had those before. This one was well deserved. Just let Black Sabath get the best of me. Wanted to get home to my lady and I had to take a dump like something fierce.
damned coffee.

If its not too far away, go back and take pics of where you passed to show there was no way to know there was an intersection coming up (I presume there were no signs or anything like that)

Reason I didn't pass earlier is because that passing section is stupid. It's a right hand turn and between the mountain and the cars in front of you, you can't see far enough to safely pass until it straitens out. That's where I passed.
only bad thing is that if I fight this I take the chance of the officer coming with notes talking about the other offenses he could have popped me for.
That part of the ticket is kind of bogus but I'd rather have gotten that than the wreckless driving I probably would have deserved.
the officer was actually very respectful and fair. He didn't let me off like I'd liked or cut my speed down or something really cool like that but he did let the major stuff slide and he did treat me like a human being. It was a very drastic change from the ****** I'm used to dealing with around here.
There was no pop your hood. Your exhaust is too loud. Are you street racer. None of that. I mean he told me strait out I was driving like a jackass and I agreed. I have a habit of driving fast from time to time but I make it a point to do it safely. I slipped up a bit and got caught.
of course I hope he has mercy on me and doesn't turn it in. But honestly I'd really hope to just get some reward for my effort and have my fines cut down a bit and just go to traffic school and call it a day. 1 point and no rise in my insurance rates is better than 3 points, no car, HUGE fines, huge insurance rate spike and a few hours in jail.
but still...good idea. I might go do it just to have it in my pocket should the need arise.
Hurray, it's Ian!!
