My problem is that there aren't a lot of other options for people who want AWD. There's Audis, but the reliability and maintenance costs scare the crap outta me. Then you've got boring as hell Volvos. No thanks. Of course there's the BMW XIs but if I was going to buy a Bimmer it'd have to be RWD as I'm not a huge fan of BMW's AWD system. So where does that leave us? Even worse is that most manufacturers don't give you a manual tranny option with their AWD packages. Hell, even Subaru's starting to do that now (bye bye '05 Legacy GT wagon

yeah car companies are starting to suck.
the ones i think that will never sell out:
Mazda
Nissan
Subaru ...these companies will always have a nice option for poor people...rx8 has potential, Miata, 350Z's VQ will always sound HOT, Subaru and all other competitive companies.

if all else fails, we have trusty RWD BMW's to keep us drifting...as long as we can disable the Stability ctrl.

thats why the are starting to make driver specific cars, for "us" like the prodrive p2!!! if only it didnt have an ugly *** front end

Power means a lot, but I don't need 600hp, etc... I want a car that has more features, a car that is quiet for once... I just want the thing to handle pretty good, Im not doing hammy runs anymore, no more track days (well, maybe in the future).... Ahhhh! I'm getting old!!!

I was thinking of the new Volvo C30 Hatch with the turbo motor.

awww Bruceeeeeeee dont give up!!!!! plus the c30 is funny looking someone else i know just bought one and i like it even less than the new imprezza

irony of it is that my STi is my quiet reliable daily driver cause im getting too old to drive my race car on a daily basis!

Yeah, I found out it was FWD and that was an INSTANT no-go for me. I thought it was AWD for some reason... :-/ (Not ragging on FWD because some cars are awesome and have FWD... Prime example is the Intergra type R. Raaaawr!)

Race car? What sort of race car?

Like my husband says when you buy all the other "more grown up" cars you realize you get just as much out of the suby for half the price hehe. We have had the mercedes, bmw's, ferrari etc and he went for the subaru and said he would do it again and again. Jdm motors are way more reliable than european motors by far. We know lots of 50+ year olds driving Evo's or subaru's and they have said the same things we have. Waited alot of money buying the other cars.

Yeah, you're right... I've been thinking about this a lot. I came to realize the things I don't like about my car that need to be fixed asap.

1. Suspension. I hate the stock suspension! Yeah, it's a bit stiffer than RS suspension, but it still sucks! I'm used to driving on the Japanese Tein HA's on my RS and miss the handling. This can be fixed with a suspension upgrade. I like it flat and stiff!

2. Interior comfort. I have V5 seats in both cars, and as great as the seats are, there is just something left to be had... I was thinking of upgrading to a more aggresive racing seat(s). What I mean by comfort is not what you're thinking... I like to be cradled when I drive, and I think the STi V5 seats are a little too narrow for my frame, which sucks because I love those seats, but they really weren't made for someone who is 6'6" and 235lbs. I'm not fat by any means, but my body is wider to support my height... You can't really notice it because I'm so damn tall... Stupid height!!! Sucks so much when you're driving cars! Wish I could magically convert to 5'10" when driving and then as soon as I get out of the car, I return to stock height.

3. Clunkyness. I know there's nothing I can do about this... but damn, the car is so damn loud in every way possible. Not talking about exhaust and such, talking about the dash, rear end, gears, window seals... Is there any way to make the gears shift smoother other than shifter bushings? Like changing the gear oil to another kind? I really need a short shifter as well... the stock throw is like 8"... am I driving an f'ing tractor?

I guess most of these issues can be resolved with some aftermarket help... I know it isn't Subaru's fault, they just make cars that will fit the average person (American)... It's my fault for being a freak who likes a quite ride!
