Damn, this thread is depressing as hell... Seems as though every week we have a new thread about someone being laid off. Being laid off is a terrible feeling... You work your *** off for a company hoping you'll advance to a higher position only to be called in for "that talk"... Its failure and feeling worthlless all at the same time, probably one of the worst feelings on earth.

I feel ya, and good luck in your future business moves, this economy will get better... *crosses fingers*

What are you looking to do? I have a buddy that works at Trader Joes on Lake Shore in Oakland, but he has worked at their stores throughout the Bay. If that is something you'd be interested in, I can see if he has any pull there. He loves his job, is paid well, and has benefits, and doesn't even work full time!

Haha.. "That's what happens... " High-n-mighty BS as if you know everyone's situation and are "just better" because of your decisions.. Real helpful... I "burned" my PTO on some trips that were planned and one that came up where I couldn't say no. Usually have a huge PTO balance and plan it well, but just lucky timing, and then got laid off, no severance, just 'see ya' so yeah it happens - first time for me, with 65 other folks and most of my direct co-workers and my boss. Fortunately I planned in case of this event and have 20mos worth of savings to keep me safe, and all my cars are paid off. But not everyone has this luxury and it took me years to get to this place via hard work and stuff. Few years ago I would have never been able to save and would be seriously screwed with only my PTO. I feel for the people who were caught at an even less fortunate state, like the fellow who just started at our company, has 2 kids, a mortgage and such. He's fooked. I guess I could mock him for his unlucky situation or lack of thorough planning but, Lboogie, does it really make you feel better to mock people in unfortunate situations? Sort of makes you look like an *** IMHO. This stuff sucks, and sometimes you just get handed a raw deal at the wrong time.

Best of luck to the OP and I hope you get something figured out. Getting tougher now...
