I not a fan of Starbucks, but I do drink their coffee occasionally (and real coffee every day). I'm too stubborn, though, to use their mix-n-match nomenclature.

If you people actually knew anything about starbucks, you would know that they do in fact make good coffee. They have an excellent business model, provide better customer service then most mom and pop shops because the people that apply at starbucks actually go through a professional interview process that usually weeds out the idiots ( though not everything is perfect so idiots still exist even at starbucks).
I have always disliked the size names they use, that is stupid to me, but they also try to set them selves a part from other coffee shops.

If you have a good coffee shop, employ hard workers that dont answer their cell phones in front of customers, and do something that sets your business a part from starbucks, then you will make it. In Scotts Valley, CA Abouche is literally kiddy corner to star bucks, they have been there a long time and noticed almost no difference in business. Know why? Because starbucks drinkers are like the local shop drinkers, they stick to what they like
and know what to expect. My old landlord drives to work (35 minutes) daily, and waits till she gets to the starbucks no more then a block from her work to get coffee. In transit she literally passes 7 - 9 local coffee shops, but passes them all to go to where she wants to.

I go there because my GF works there so she always buys my drinks, and gets a free pound of coffee every week that I get to drink for free.

It comes down to growing up, and paying attention. Once you learn how a business or corporation works, you'll understand. There are ****ty things about starbucks, and about the local shops. You just choose where you want to go.

my 2 cents...
