wasn't it some place like point richmond or something that boycotted and refused to let starbucks in....no chains at all in the town.>>>>I thought that was so rad.

Personally chain wise I love Pete's. Real coffee. Real tea. Good stuff.
and I dig the royal grind or whatever it is in berkeley...I think it's a mini-chain
I like my small mom and pops though. I have been going to the same two coffee shop for 7 years.

Before all my friends quit at one of them I used to go there every day...they'd have my coffee on the counter before I got through the front door. Paid for maybe 1 out of 5 coffees I got there for like 3 years. Love that place.

Mission Coffee Roasting off Mission Blvd. in fremont. They have two places now.

i don't know... i personally respect Starbucks, and they make it easier for me to get into the cafe business, sell a cup of coffee for under their insane prices, they'll bring attention to the mom and pop's. or in my case, the college kid's place once i try to open again.

I thought about opening a coffee shop too. But it's tough. Especially in the good locations. Either there's a mom and pop there or there's a starbucks....sucks.

I'd really like to do one taylored to college kids. Later hours.....midnight all week and 2/3 am on fri/sat. But I'd want it to be a place I could do shows sometimes and stuff like that. cafe....don't know Was gonna call it......"the fix"

something different...maybe like brainwash in the city...do a laundry matt/coffee shop that's open late and has life shows.....they have beer though...

so sweet. Could make money and have a really fun business to opperate.

they are....but have you ever had a real one?

Starbucks are not machiatos. They are vanilla lattes with tons of carmel syrup in them.

Go to a real coffee shop and get one.....if they are aware and cool they might just make you one starbucks style...but they'll probably say something like....do you want a real one or starbucks one? or they will look at you funny because carmel inside a real machiato tastes like hell.

Charile,

Does Its a Grind give free wireless internet access? Starbucks charges $6 an hour to use their wireless internet service. I know, since I tried out my new wireless card last week. And at $6 an hour. F$%# That!!!

just cause it's a good business doesn't mean it's good coffee. McD's used to be on every corner....is their food good?

It's always popular to hate on the big guy.....

like for instance Microsoft...corse I hate microsoft because they are so damn huge most of their stuff is made half assed.

oh and I do drink starbucks when I am in a fat hurry....if I have time I walk to pete's. If I am away from work I always hit up mom and pops. Support the small guy..haa.

I like starbucks... Venti Drip (that's a big cup of house coffee for you non-bucka's out there). I go there every morning on my way out to whatever job we're doing that day. It's a great way to wake up and see a few nices smiles first thing in the morning...

of coarse I spend more $$$ there every month than I do on DSL for my office

Dont hate on the big guy cause he's big... My favorite coffe shopd in the bay area are still the small ones...

Dolce Spazio Gelato (1st prize in los gatos)

The Bean Scene (runner up in sunnyvale)
