I got off work almost an hour and a half ago... grrr


luckily I move in a week and a half, good ridence 880 commute.

 

Where on 880. I drive Oakland to Newark Monday to Friday.
I think it gets worse as you go down..

 

i like 880...

granted i get to work around noon and go home around 9pm... and total miles on 880 is like 4 miles...

 

too many big rigs =\ I have the chips to prove it.

 

My dad avoids 880 when going to San Francisco. Since 580 is about 4-5 minutes from my house even though the 880N entrance is right over my backyard, he takes that instead because they don't allow big rigs there.

 

yeah, I just don't drive on it between 3-7. And Ktvu's traffic map is BS, it will show all the exits like @ park, fruitvale, high st., all the way down to jackson and tennyson in hayward going like 50-60 mph, and when u get there... going 15. It's crap

 

I look at the sigalert.com site, and it too is crap. Never seems to be correct
at least for the parts of 880 I drive.

The only accurate way I have been able to determine traffic is based on how bad
I need to get home. The more I need to get home, the worse traffic.

Oh.. Now you got me started.

What is up with this. The traffic somehow "knows" that I have plans that night
and gets worse? The flag gets sent up and all the bozos hit the highway.
Slow to 5mph as they drive past the towtruck parked by the side of the road.
I can see them as the get close, traffic opens up in front of them. But their
brake light stay on. They take a long look over to the right or left. Then they
camp out in the fast lane going 59mph. And it's bad enough that they drive
slow in the fast lane, then they go and find the other three people who are
also going 59 mph and they take lanes 1, 2 and 3 creating a wall that I can't
get around. Then they all call grandma and settle down for a nice chat while
traffic backs up behind them.

... Sorry.. I just got wound up looking forward to my drive tonight...

 

LOL, that sux, I hate it when that crap happens! Pisses me off, I am like SPEED UP OR SLOW THE F*** DOWN PEOPLE, BUT GET OUTTA MY WAY!!!!!! And dont you just love it how those people NEVER look in their mirrors to see the 500 cars stacked up behind them, I swear they think they are the only damn people on the friggin freeway. GRRRR.

My <Rant> about 880 though is that it is the absolute WORST freeway in terms of road condition.....I dont think there is 1 single stretch of that freeway that is pot-hole free.....you practically have to own a rock crawler just to drive on it without damaging your suspension or rims. And there is all this construction going on yet, the road just gets worse and worse, and nothing EVER gets fixed, they spend all this money redesigning on/off ramps, and interchanges, but never fix the damn pot-holes......</rant>

on the 880 note. I try to avoid it but I live like 200 feet from it. I take 101 home from SF. I never go to oakland...I take 680 most everywhere else.

I got like 5 rock chips in a couple weeks of having my car.... thanks to Jeremy and my clearbra I haven't gotten any more.

 

I used to think 880 was pretty bad. Now that I live in Antioch, I have to tell you that 4 is much worse.

 

I always heard people whine about it but always though they were just pussies. My commute is from right by the great mall to downtown San Jo, 10 minutes on a bad day lol. Friday I had the pleasure of leaving gruppe-s at about 5:30 then trying to get home. It took me less than 20 minutes to get to gruppe, and just under 2 hours to get home. I would go absolutely insane if I had to do that on a regular basis, I don't see how people put up with traffic like that every day.

oh and +1 for Jeremy and his clear bras. He was installing one on friday at gruppe, I'll be getting mine in January, his new film is MUCH better than the old stuff, no more orange peel look.
