i've gone camping at red rocks canyon, its beautiful there,

where abouts is that forest road drive

 

Jawbone Rd to Mt Puite Rd . That's Lake Isabella. Jawbone Starts just south of Red Rock off 14

The first part is across the OHV area. Then through some foot hills, up a switch back. Gets kinda rough. Mt Puite Rd is "primitive" (ie rough with the ocasional rock) but passable. Great views though.

Only problem was the gate was locked at the end which caused some consternation. But help was not far away.

Also drove back to 99 via 155 and White River Rd which was good. The road up through Johsondale to 190 is more fun but I did that two years ago and the gate incident slowed us down a bit.
