The problem is they're really rare. Unless you work for Google, the "Invite a Friend" link pops up only once or twice ever (this from my friends who have been on longer).

1. Gmail is supposed to be free soon, i HOPE you didn't pay for yours

2. If you go to college and major in computer science you will probably already have a 1gB email account

 

I got mine from a friend, didn't even know people were paying (otherwise I would have gotten one from the beginning and sold off my invite links )

I have 200MB combined from school right now. The size of the mailbox is nice but hardly the best thing about gmail imo!
