I dunno...

Yea, this is a Suby forum, but I wanted to ask all you car nuts a question. My 240 is ****ed up. It has rough starts, the engine shakes the entire car, massive loss in power, and it wants to die at idle. A friend said my compression is low, and I'm not firing on all my cylinders, but I have no idea what the **** he's talking about. Is he right? I hate engines. What do I need to fix this? Those 240sx forum guy are *********, btw :P

You might have blown the welds on your intake manifold......

Was it running fine before? Was anything done to it. Have you done a compression test yet?

mine had that problem... change the plugs, cap, rotors, wires.. and do a compression test while the plugs are out... or it could be a old rubber hose that finally cracked through...

alternative... swap the SR in

Take it somewhere to diagnose it if you can't figure it out. Any reputable auto mechanic place should be able to do it. Just be prepared to pay.

Err, I would take it to a mechanic, except for the fact that the new house we just bought is turning our bank account into a black hole. Sucking our paychecks into it's gravitational maw. That leaves the SR swap out the window as well. If I can get this ****er fixed I'm gonna start assembling a junkyard KA-T kit out of Volvo's and whatnot

But, yea, compression tests and repair shops are outta the question, atm

It had some rough starts, but it would even out and drive fine. Then it stopped evening out and runs this way all the time. Totally stock KA24DE, no compression test :P

compression testers are ~$10-20 and you can do yourself with a friend.
