I-clubbers, need a repair shop recommendation
I-clubbers, need a repair shop recommendation
Well crap, I broke a bolt... Long story short, was re-installing my seats, got everything lined up, was putting in the four bolts that bolt the seat to the chassis, the last bolt started to cross thread, tried to back it out, *ka THUNK.* Swore up and down, and sure enough the bolt broke clean in half. I thought it might be ok, since it broke so far down, that I might still be able to get it torqued...but no, it won't bite.
The bolt will need to be drilled out and the hole likely re-tapped. I could attempt it, but at this point I'm willing to concede defeat and let a shop do it. What bay area shop would be the recommendation. I've had good experienced with Auto HQ in Redwood City, but I'm open to suggestions.
The good news is that it's on the passenger side seat, so it's not a huge safety concern right now.
Thanks,
Justin

Hey Justin, I still got your chairs. They are sitting in the back of my car. I'll be back for the GST dyno day. Maybe we can meet up sometime.
Could you use a screw extractor? Like... I killed the tread on one of my screws for my fog lights, and they recommended using a screw extractor.

Thanks, Kevin. I was thinking of dropping by the dyno day too, I'll get them from you then.
I don't know that an easy-out would work, the threads are pretty well galled. They wouldn't budge when I tried to back out the bolt. I'm fairly certain that it will need to be drilled out.
