Every “current” generation of enthusiasts will be completely different from its preceding generation...which will be different from the generation before it (due to available technologies, car models, economic landscape, etc). And each one along the chain will gripe about the others because that's just human nature. It is that simple. That's why a lot of more mature OG folk simply communicate among themselves as they nothing to prove or need to show off at this point and have plenty of other responsibilities to keep them busy (ex. twins!).

For the record, I am ambivalent toward the whole low-rider scene, which Hellaflush is a derivative off. It was, is and will be around for a long time in some fashion. It is just that some trendy hipster done an excellent marketing job of “rediscovering” for the younger generation. Therefore, while it might not be my particular brand of vodka, I am not going to bash it simply because it is someone else’s. The bashing starts when that preference is objectively poorly executed on a dime bag budget.

Pretty much.
This thread got me thinking about the reasons I don't use the forums as much as I once did. Part of it is because I moved. It's hard to plan a meet or be up in local current events when you're 1000 miles away.

The next big one is why I joined to begin with. Back in 2004 I had very little tech know how and was looking for advice on what to do with my car. Well, now I know what to do myself, have the manuals to look it up, or the established network of peeps to ask directly.

Then comes the generation shift. I'm a Bug-Eye fan, It was the chassis the got me into the scene and it kinda just stuck. Over the years, most (not all) of the guys with money to do cool mods stopped souping up and showing off the bug-eyes quite some time ago. They either went to the newest STi, the BRZ, or left the Subaru scene for something German. Now days it feels like the bulk of the Bug-Eye crowed is full of high school kids with the first car. which in and of itself I can respect. But I can't help but think late teens and early 20 sometime always want the same mods. big subs, cheap loud pipes and flashy yet mostly tacky decor.

 

Pffft I have a bug eye I want to sell, and let me tell you how much low balling I have to wade through.

 

Maybe we need a biannual event to hold people off until BAM?

A smaller one... if anyone wants to help me plan it I'm down... a drive/bbq/camping trip is what I've had kicking in my head for years now...
