I was in an accident yesterday
Hi guys, I've been reading the forum for a while now but this is my first time posting. I was in an accident yesterday 7/31 around 1pm and my subie is in pretty bad shape. It happened on hwy 5 south to 205 interchange, some woman on her cell phone rear ended or rather plowed onto my rear end. My car was stationary and she pushed my wrx atleast 7 or 8 feet smashing me against the car in front on me. A total of 5 cars were involved. I need some advice since this is the first time I've ever been in an accident.
My neck and back is really kiliing me right now, hopefully its nothing to serious. My mom who was sitting in the rear had to spend the night in the hospital and she is really feeling crappy. Anyways, I am new to the elk grove area so if anybody from the Sacramento can recommend a good chiropractor and/or physical therapist that would be great.
Second, if my insurance tells me that my car is repairable, which I highly doubt it is, would guys hooked me up with a good shop to get my wrx feeling better. If anybody is working in the insurance field or with have had a similar experience, could you guys give me some advice on to handle my situation. I would really appreciate any help. Be careful out there.
And one last thing, to the guys in the white mid to late 90s Imprezza, if you guys are on this forum I want to let you know that you guys are *******s!! for laughing at our situation specially when a couple people were seriously hurt.

Lets start with you, Do not take chances with your neck see your doctor and have the visit covered by insurance. At the very least they can recommend a good therapy session at a local chiropractor for you.
Second have a machanic look at your car for unibody cracks or damage. If the unibody is bent or cracked have him sign a note with a discription and then total the car, lets face it bending the frame is bad.
With the amount of feet you were pushed i'm willing to say your car is totalled. Really you should have it totalled. They should be able to pay off your loan and then give you the money the car was worth.

The insurance company of the lady that hit you will call and offer you and your mom some small amount of cash to sign a release stating you will not sue.
No matter how tempting it is, DO NOT TAKE IT. See your doctor immediately.
Good luck, sorry to hear about the accident, and the *******s that laughed at you.

Don't worry. You are NOT at fault here, and the womans insurance company will be paying for everything. I would try to make sure whatever the CHP has written down is correct, and that you know what their report is.
ALSO... CALL THE DMV, or go there, and fill out the form that states you were in an auto accident! They need whatever that is, and you must give it to them by law (for accidents that are over $500 in damage or injury/death). You aren't at fault, so don't worry, just fill it out. It's a proof of insurance form i think.
Hurray, it's Ian!!

i see that guy on TV all the time about auto accident injuries. I'm not sure how reputable he is though.
i hope you and your mom are ok, and nothing serious happened.

i had the same thing happen to me about 2 years ago...traffic was stopped and the guy behind us didn't see it stop, so he plowed into my parents' van @ 65mph. i received a whiplash that still gives me problems once in awhile.
anyway, don't sign any forms without consulting a legal consultant. second, visit a doctor so that your pain & treatment is documented (which you can use in court). your insurance company should pay for this treatment (they will go after the other insurance company for reimbursement.) take pictures of the car for use in court. also, have a reputable shop (independent of your insurance company) inspect the car to determine its condition. our cars have a unibody construction frame, so once it is damaged to a certain point, it's not safe....
goodluck with getting this taken care of. dealing with insurance companies will surely be hell over the next few months.

Thanks everyone. Well I went to the ER yesterday and my injuries include chest wall contusion, severe whiplash, and a mild concussion. My mom pretty much has the same injuries plus they have to monitor her blood pressure because she already has high blood pressure and hypertension. Tomorrow I'll be off to see my regular doctor and see what he recommends.
Also I spoke with my insurance company yesterday and they are sending someone today to see my car. They asked me if I wanted it to be moved to a shop and I told no and to give me a call first. Do you guys know any reputable shops in the Bay? Again thanks everyone.

I hope this person has good insurance cause it sounds like you and your mom are going to need a lot of treatment and for quite some time. Whiplash can take a long time to heal from and cause problems from time to time for much longer. They'll be responsible for even those visits.
Basically their insurance is gonna get you into a rental car. Then they will send and adjuster to see your car. At that time I pretty much see him going...oh ****.... this thing is totalled. I mean I seriously just had some scratches on my car and it was $3k. SCRATCHES. Then they will send you a check. At which time you'll have to use it to pay off your loan. Whatever is left you can use to get into a new vehicle. Make sure you remove any aftermarket parts before they tow the car away unless you have reciepts for them...then they will pay you for them. You may consider purchasing the car and parting out the drivetrain and seats and what not.
To find a good chiropractor I'd suggest having your mom or you yourself call your insurance provider. They'll have a list. You can also check with the better busines bureaul. For that type of work I would look for a sports therapist or one that specializes in accident victims.
Good luck... I hope you don't have the kind of problems I've had in the past. Hopefully they have state farm. They were so freakin easy to deal with I nearly switched to them.

Hi guys, I have a quick question for the sacramento guys. Do any of you have any experience with Hays Bros. or Auto Body Experience? I need to get my car out to a body shop so they can take a look at my car. Thanks
