HWY 160 to Sacramento?

Fun drive? I'm looking for a fun route to take up to Sacramento on Saturday afternoon. Something off the beaten path, how's 160?

It follows the river, through small towns. The drive is nice, I take it instead of 80 or 50 when there is traffic. There are some sections that are a little curvy but watch out for cops when you go through a town, they like to bust out of town'rs for speeding. Stop at Isleton Joe's for some crawdads and some local flavor http://www.isletonjoes.com/ I highly recomend 160

It's not really a "fun" drive, unlike the stuff in the moutains or in the central valley that connects I5 to I101.

It's a scenic drive, along the river, as queeg9k said. I'd say it's actually better as a convertible or motorcycle drive. Tiny towns dot the area. The whole delta area is pretty sleepy, if that's what you're looking for.

And I've experienced a few instances of passive aggressive racism just for being non-white.

Also, just as you exit H160 into Sacramento, there is a restaurant called Freeport bar and grill (used to be A.J. Bumps) which is a nice steak house. I haven't been there for many years so I don't know how it is today but reviews seem to still be good.

I rather like it, it sure beats the hell out of I-80- although it takes longer than when the interstate is moving, its probably not much longer when 80 gets jammed up. Several alternate routes are available along the way that involve crossing a bridge to get to the other side of the river, lots of little draw bridges and stuff, do it right with a couple of little detours and you can even get a couple of car ferry crossings thrown in.

Thanks Pete. Sounds like it's no Mines Rd but I'm gonna check it out anyways. If nothing else, I'll see a slice of the local country I haven't seen before.
