Again, this is going by forum logic. Given all the time in the world, I would have asked for pics, as I always do. But given that this was an auction, one that I won in the last few minutes, there was no luxury to ask and wait for pictures, the auction would have ended. This is not a good ol' forum buy, where honor dictates the order of buyer and price, but the pirate land of Ebay.

That being said, I asked for opinions for the situation with these given facts:

Yes, ipod (not iphone, but I don't blame people for not reading all that close) was not advertised as being new, but lightly, and I stress LIGHTLY used, in great shape, and with some pocket scuffs.

Ipod is a STi special edition, given to those that preordered the super wagon. This means there are not a whole lot floating around, and comparisons to other ipods, ipod touch, ect, would not be a good comparison.

I tried to contact the seller with my concerns, to which he basically gave me the finger and said that it was used, end of story.

My beef is that he described this in much, much better condition than it is in. I wanted other opinions on this to gauge my hostility.

Thanks to all who have replied, even those telling me that I should have asked for pictures when it was impossible. I am interested in the replies that state that if it works that they would be happy with it. I guess people have differing standards of what they would consider great shape, ect.


Again, this was a time dependent auction, and asking for pictures would have been futile.


As for an update, the seller was very quick to reply to all my responses on the Paypal dispute, that is until I posted the pics that are in the first post, which gave me the idea for this thread, to which there have been no response. How's that for a run-on sentence?

One last thing, you guys are great. Seriously. Yes there are some that I may not agree with but overall there is no better online community that I have found like the Subaru community, and it was one of the leading factors that swayed me from a brand new lan evo ix mr (and the interior didn't do it for me).

I would describe my ipod as great shape, some pocket scuffs, screen almost brand new. Now take that same description and apply it to the sad husk that was at one time a very special STi edition ipod touch...

File a claim with Paypal, neg feedback on Ebay, call it a day.

 

Did you ever get the chance to see Macross: Do You Remember Love? It was the theatrical treatment done in 1984. Well worth checking out.

I don't think being an impulse buy (I know you were looking for over a year, so it seems less impulsive, but the fact that you didn't have time to ask for pictures does make it impulsive) shirks your responsibilities as a buyer to investigate the product. Anyway, good luck with the PayPal dispute.
