HOW is there not an STi drool thread here yet?!
Hey guys...I know this subject is ALL over these forums today...but I wanted to talk to some local people (dealers included) about the new STi.
If you haven't read up on the news (shame on you! it's been 4 hours since the official specs were released!)...go to http://impreza.subaru.com and bring a drool rag.
2.5L 300hp/300ft-lbs

Basically take everything the JDM/UK STi has, and add a 2.5L that is EXCLUSIVE to the USDM.
Anyway...I've pretty much decided that I have to have one. (I already pitched "graduation present"??? to the wife
) Who's on the list? Price isn't finalized but people are saying circa $32k.
I'm just excited...can't wait to drive one!

Heh, I was going to start one, but I saw they had one in the news area so I left my opinion there:
Despite it's odd looks, if I had the money now I would buy one without thinking twice. A feature list like that is impossible to ignore.

I'm just excited to have super kickass power under WARRANTY!!!
And that motor has to have HUGE potential with 2.5 and strengthened internals and a NEW 6spd. Wow...I'm calling Carlsen/Santa Cruz in the morning!

i havebeen surfin evolutionm.com and there are some guys who are pulling there deposits and going to put them on the STi. haha. that is crazy.
i am still VERY excited about the EVO being here, but a 2.5L TURBO!!!!! i am just silly with excitement.
ok. now to start making my list of mods, and working on the wife....

Looks like my Vishnu Stage 2 is on hold. I wonder how much power Shiv can squeeze out of the 2.5 Turbo motor?
Why did Subaru have to exceed everyone's expectations! Now there is nothing more to ask for but higher production numbers. I guess we are spoiled in the USA! For awhile I wished we could get the JDM spec but 2.5 300HP with smog! Just imagine how much you can squeeze from that puppy by just removing the uppipe, downpipe, exhaust, etc.
I bet the markup will be steep but compared to my brother's 330Ci @ $38K, I think it is still a bargain. Just need to find one at MSRP.

I didnt get the news until just now. I dunno what to say, other than this sucks. Its hard to believe that a stock WRX STi will be zipping around in STOCK form and much faster than me.. =(. But it doesnt get any better than this. I think, Mitsubishi thought they were gonna stomp all over us... what fools!!! Anyway, congrats to all who are getting one.
