The simple fact is, these "DUI" checkpoints are an easy way for local LE to generate revenue and meet their quotas. They know most people that come through the checkpoints are going to be ignorant of the law and not fully aware of their 4th Amendment rights. It doesn't take much to get them to consent to a search under the guise of public safety.

According to actual statistics (not NHTSA's inflated numbers), DUI checkpoints have a minimal effect on the overall number of drunk driving deaths.

My .02 cents is that personally many of us don't have problems with it, so why fight it. The counter argument is if we let let the law, use it more than necessary, we lose our freedom. We know they never give back power. Hence the white house with it's army declaring war without factual evidence, Patriot Act, and cops thinking it's suspicious activity to exercise the constitution. We let the government do a lot more than it's supposed, too. I'd rather live free than pay this tax that goes to no where except fattening congress's pockets.

Would I answer a cop? Yes, but am I adding to the detriment of our country? Probably.

Is our country dying slowly yet surely? Oh hell yes, the amount of medicare/social security/fake disabilities flew up when unemployment was cut.

Do we exercise our right to have our government fear us? Apparently not anymore, I think we're already too late and the guys in power took advantage of us.

IMO the only way back to America as it once was is a revolution. When guns are banned and we turn into Canada, we will be play the role of the famous quote...
