I recently had 3 wisdom teeth pulled out (2 impacted, 1 non-impacted) and paid $250. Insurance covered the other 80%. My oral surgeon came highly recommended by my regular dentist, was very skilled, and personable. If you want to go to someone in the Oakland area (Franklin & 17th), I'd recommend Larry V. Franz, DDS.

go under for this one. you don't want to be poked half a dozen times with a needle in the same area. and yeah go to a good oral surgeon. I had all four done right after highschool and I went under, a good surgeon. not that bad. my cousin went to some fob dentist that was cheap. damn she was jacked up for 2-3 weeks, was bleeding all the time.

I had 6 teeth done (yes I'm a mutant, Kentucky hillbilly genes) and it cost about $1800 if I remember right. Two of them required surgery, and I had full anesthesia.
One word of advice: If you have any post-op pain after the first day or two, do not hesitate to go to the doc and complain. I tried to tough it out over a weekend and it turned out that it was an easily fixed situation requiring about 2 minutes of treatment.

my25rs, I understand your concern for the $$ but a referral to a good oral surgeon is (forgive the cliche) priceless. I practice general dentistry in Saratoga. I have a couple of names in the south bay whom I refer to. PM me if you wish. armlock

sonicsuby, your girlfriend must work for TDIC or 1201, just curious how they know who is good or bad. Thanks

Just had my wisdom teeth out, went to a place in San Leandro, on Estudillo I think. Went in and had all 3 of them pulled in no time. It took longer to get the prescription filled at longs than the actual procedure. Went smoothly with no complications (woke up once and I could hear/feel them doing something that I didnt like (seemed like a mini jackhammer, but it didnt hurt. Just felt bad) and Im at home resting now. Its not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The local numbing stuff is wearing off tho, and its hurting. Just felt like I've been punched hard in the jaw. I can eat and drink relativly fine, but I've only had spaghetti-o's. Stomach is a little upset, but thats normal from being knocked out. For those who are going to get it done, be knocked out and go for warm liquids after instead of cold.
