Hello all,

It would be like those high quality racing team jackets with embroidered logos. I dont have a design or anything yet, but it would say "BAIC" and have our supporting BAIC vendor logos put on it just like other racing team jackets have. I'll try to add the older i-club logo (with the car and swoosh) to the coat as the main logo, and with the help of a couple professional graphic designers, this thing will be the bomb!

To get an idea, the jackets would be a lot like the real racing jackets, like SWRT and others have, on a medium weight jacket for us. I wish I had a pic of my idea but I dont, sorry. But if I had to use an example, and this is a ROUGH example because the jacket style would be different, this is the sort of idea behind it:




This would be a really high quality piece and done on a medium weight nylon type jacket which is perfect for bay area weather. I want the jacket to be really high quality and to have embroidered logos put onto each one making it really high quality which means that it might be a little expensive, I don't have an idea how much it would cost, but I'd imagine it wouldn't be cheap because I don't want to cut corners and I want it done the right way the first time and want everyone to be happy.

I'm going to the screen printing place tomorrow to get the 2nd run of the shirts and hoodies done (would have done it last week but was injured pretty badly), and while I'm there I'll get a quote to see how much they will cost.

If we do this, there wont be any theft this time because I will hand out each and every one individually this time and not have them handed out at a meet with 600 people, so no worries of that.

Remember, these will be really high quality to reflect the quality of our club. It will cost us more, but it will be worth it to have a one off BAIC racing club jacket (I don't know what else to call it).


How many of you would be interested in buying one of these coats? I'm just WILDLY guessing that they will be in the realm of like $75, but that's just a wild guess, they may be more, who knows. Considering that a Monster/Ken Block hoodie costs $85 when it's half off (normally $150!) for a HOODIE, this would be a GREAT deal considering it's a BAIC one off jacket that everyone will want and ask you about.


What do you guys think? Would you be interested in this?

PS: Keep in mind that I would get the best discount that I could possibly get and you would be paying for the jacket, logos, embroidery, and however much the labor costs. I understand the economic situation, so I'll do my best to charge the least amount possible.

These will be a single run/ single production coat only, after this run there will be no more made ever! This will make your jacket really special ad everyone and their mothers will ask you where/how you got it and will want one after seeing yours, so I expect lots of emails after the first run, but sadly I will have to decline.

I know you guys are all about quality, so I want this jacket to have quality embroidery so that it looks great and stays looking new throughout the years of wear and tear. I wont put a year on it so that it will look new even when it's years old, no one will know except for you.

It wont be THAT expensive, that's for sure. If it costs more then $75 then I wont do it... So it will be less the $70ish, and the $70 is the absolute HIGHEST price possible, I'm guessing it will be cheaper then that, I hope... Otherwise I wont do the run because I know no one will be able to afford it.

Keep in mind that the jackets alone will probably cost around $30 for a good quality nylon medium weight jacket, plus the cost to embroider all the logos and such which will cost quite a bit since it's embroidery, or I can go cheaper and have the same silk screen print that our BAM shirts have (which are high quality, but not as high quality as the embroidered logos which would be the best possible way to do it).

If it's too expensive with the embroidery for every logo, then we'll take a step down and do it with the same silk screen print that out BAM shirts and hoodies had... They are a very high end silk screen company and their standard logos are really high quality, but you know how it is between the print and the embroidered version.

I really want them to be embroidered because it will look SUPER nice and REALLY high quality, but if it costs too much we'll have to do take a step down and make it affordable by doing the logos in the same way that we did the BAM shirts and hoodies.

Depending on the cost, I'll start a thread after seeing which one you guys would rather have based on cost and we'll go from there. Considering how much an SWRT jacket costs of the same basic quality and stuff, this jacket will be really inexpensive. The SWRT jackets are like $150 easily for the light weight jackets with embroidered logos, and they have a lot of volume! We're just a small club so we need to be prepared to pay a little extra (not as much as SWRT of course! lol ) to have a high quality custom made jacket to support our team.

I know the people who are cheap will always complain and expect it to be $20 regardless of anything, but what they don't realize is that it costs a lot for materials alone, let alone the labor and stuff to embroider the logos, and if you've ever seen something get embroidered you'll understand how much is involved but it looks SOOOOO good afterwords.


I was also thinking about making an embroidered BAIC hat! have BAIC in the front and www.i-club.com in the back. How cool would that be? I'm talking about high quality Flex Fit hats, and not the cheap *** ones that most places sell.


So maybe in the future we'll have BAIC team jackets and hats! Maybe someone has other ideas as to what we can have in our clothing line up.


This idea is LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG overdue! I see other car clubs like the BMW clubs and am soo jealous. I'm surprised that no one has done this in the past! Well, the time is now and I'm going to make it happen for my fellow BAIC friends.

 

The jacket will def be under $100, I will try my best to get it in the $70 range. Like I said in the post above, if we can't do embroidery due to the cost, we'll just do the same high quality print that our BAM shirts and hoodies got. The place I use is a heavy duty high end screen printing company, and they can do just about anything and everything is high quality.


I think having a BAIC team jacket (in really good taste and done really well) would be soooooo damn cool! I'd wear it everywhere!

Having a BAIC hat would be really dope too.


Who knows what else I have in store for future projects!


I think if we get some basic vendor support for the jackets that we can pull it off, I wont charge a lot just enough to bring the costs down... In return they get a kick *** logo put onto a limited edition BAIC team jacket.


I was also thinking of numbering them. Like 1/200 or something. Like yours will be 69/200 made, wouldn't that add to the cool factor of the jacket? I think it would, def would. Hell yeah, lets do it!

Knowing our vendors, they will def help us out, and just enough to make it affordable for us so that we can get a high volume of them made, and the more we make the cheaper it is.

 

Sounds like a pretty cool idea. Just like what everybody else has said as long as the price is reasonable.

Of course, it would be OUR vendors, and not snap on, sears, oreos, etc.

It would be our very own bay area vendors.


I think this would be REALLY cool, and I might even buy an extra to frame it and keep it for when my future kids get old enough (I dont have kids yet, but some day).

BAIC and it's great vendors have been a big part of my life now, and for the past 10 years, 1/3 of my life has been spent here on BAIC.

 

The more I think about it the more excited I am about it! w00t. We'll have just about every size too.
