How many COUNTRIES have you been to in your lifetime?

I was talking with some friends from my old work and I was amazed at how many of them haven't ever even been outside of CA... One of my old co-workers uses every single day of time off to travel and he's been to more countries in the past 4 years than people have been to in their entire lives! I know we have a lot of well traveled people on this forum and am curious to see what countries everyone has been to over their lifetimes. You can include different states in the USA but it doesn't count towards list since the USA is one country (in case you didn't know, cough cough, lol).

I was born and raised in Europe, so I've had the advantage of seeing a lot of different countries, and here's my list:

1. Germany (both West and East when they were separate)
2. Switzerland
3. Italy (and the Vatican, which is considered it's own)
4. Croatia
5. Bosnia
6. Serbia
7. Montenegro
8. Albania
9. Slovenia
10. Austria
11. Czech Republic
12. Hungary
13. Poland
14. Belgium
15. Lichtenstein (smallest country ever)
16. Spain
17. England
18. Sweeden
19. Jamaica
20. Cayman Islands (although a British territory)
21. Mexico
22. Canada

That's it for countries, I don't think I forgot any... As far as US states go:

1. CA
2. Oregon
3. Idaho
4. Montana
5. Arizona
6. Nevada
7. Texas
8. Hawaii
9. Wyoming

I still have a lot of the USA to explore and next on my list will be Moab Utah... Moab looks so damn cool, I really can't wait to go there!

Wish I could travel more.

I've only been to the good old USA and Fiji.

State wise.... hmmmm.
1. California
2. Oregon
3. Washington
4. Nevada
5. Idaho
6. Arizona
7. New Mexico
8. Colorado
9. Utah
10. Texas
11. Mass
12. NH
13. NJ
14. Pretty much the entire midwest. Only place I haven't been is probably New York and the south east. I'd say I've been in 35 states.

I am planning on going to Germany and touring Europe when my brother gets back from afghanistan. Would like to get to Canada in the next couple years as well as Hawaii and hopefully back to fiji or some other islands in the next 5 years. Just have to get back on our feet and make it happen.

Funny that you mention Fiji, we were specifically talking about how cool it would be to go to Fiji. It's def one of the nicest places that I've ever seen (not in person obviously). I've wanted to go to Fiji ever since I first saw the film "The Endless Summer II". I almost went a few years ago but got denied after it was declared a place not to travel from the US due to civil unrest. I def plan on going there at some point in my life however, and if you haven't seen The Endless Summer II, check it out just for the part on Fiji. It's a small little island that is a nature preserve called Tavarua (I probably butchered the hell out of that, but thats what it sounds like when said phonetically)... There are no hotels are resorts, just really nice nature huts and tree houses with some of the most amazing water as well as some of the best surf in the world! Damn, the more I think about it the more I want to go there... Maybe Croatia will take a back seat to Fiji next time my wife and I travel (we go to Croatia a lot)

EDIT: WOW, I spelled it right! Here's the google images for Tavarua, Fiji:

I've only been to a handful myself:
Canada
Mexico
Costa Rica
Japan
Norway

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon, and are planning on going to Italy, Croatia and France (and maybe a few other countries around there)

In the US:

California
Oregon
Washington
Nevada
Utah
Wyoming
Colorado
Arizona
Florida
Pennsylvania
New Jersey

I've touched down in a handful of other countries and states, but I don't count those if I never left the airport.

Nick, if you go to Croatia and need some local tips, contact me and I'll give you all the info you need on the best places to go, which includes the walled city called Trogir (which is near split and isn't very touristy like Dubrovnik is, a lot cheaper and one of the most beautiful places Ive ever been to)

Cool cool, I just want to go to Plitvice National Park. That place looks awesome. Everything else in Croatia is just extra.

Dude, plitvice is SIIIIIIIIIIIICK! If you're going there, then you might as well go to Krka national park which is also amazing, and you can actually swim in the waterfalls unlike plitvice (Pleet-veets-eh)

I'm in the middle of planning a trip for my 30th birthday and can pretty much go anywhere I want. I'm having a hard time deciding.

I've been to the following:

Canada
Mexico - I've visited 14 states in Mexico
Spain - My dad is from Northern Spain and still owns a flat there. I spent a handful of summers there.
France
Belgium
Holland
Germany
Austria
Italy
Monaco
Vatican

Cali
Nevada
Arizona
New Mexico
Texas
Hawaii
Ohio
Pennsylvania
New Jersey
Virginia
District of Columbia
Maryland

I saw tavarua. We stayed on matamanoa and taveuni I think.

They are always in political unrest. Don't let it scare you. Just means its cheaper to be there. Just stay off nandi.
