How good is Windows 7?

Like the title says, how good of an OS is this? The Release Candidate just came out today and I'm considering doing a clean install on my laptop. Anyone know how stable this or the Beta is? Comments are appreciated gents, thanks,

It's great. HUGE improvement over Vista... I had vista on my Dell 1520 laptop and it over 2 minutes to boot. With 7 it took less than a 1minute to boot. It's worth getting and I'm quite pleased with it

My link for the release candidate worked yesterday...I loaded it...looks like Vista to me so far, haven't had much more time than to burn the CD though, so I'm not really certain yet.

One good thing I noticed, it has lots of drivers in it again, recognized all of the hardware in the box I installed it to.

totally agree.
i became a huuuuuge windows hater for a while until i tried windows7. I am in love with many things...

*super stable for being a beta which shows big hope for the final
-i threw tons of stuff at it to try n get it to crash. not one crash in 4 months.

*task bar doesn't clutter up with every active/open window.. instead it shows a pretty icon of the program and when you hover your mouse over it a bunch of little thumbnail snapshots show up where you can click the window you wanna get to. For example, if you have say 5 firefox sessions open (not sure why you would when you have tabs) it shows one big icon for firefox then you just hover over it to find the active window you want.

*explorer (not internet explorer) navigation is awesome!

bunch of other things i have forgotten about, but being an avid linux user i am very excited to get windows7.

its cool. MacBook bootcamping Windows 7 x86 build 7000. All the drivers but sound installed clean. I had it auto updating and one day my CD eject hotkey stopped working after an update. Symantec Antivirus Corps or Endpoint is not compatiable, you need the home Norton 2009 versions.

I'm running the Windows 7 beta on my laptop and it's great. My system can now handle as many applications as I can throw at it and still not crash. Windows 7 official release is going to be sometime in June.

Just to be clear, the Beta came out last year. The Release Candidate came out last week for insiders, this week for general public.

The Beta will stay alive until this summer, the RC1 will stay alive into 2010.

Windows VII so far makes Vista look like a red headed stepchild, just as Windows XP did Windows Me.
