If you want to do a full system flush there is a kit you can pick up for under $10 at kragen that allows you to splice into the coolant system and hook up a hose to flush it. Otherwise you can just drain the coolant out (little plug on the bottom of the radiator (passenger side) and then you can refill it with new coolant. The second way is easier but doesn't get all the old coolant out of the system and doesn't flush out any deposits of anything in the system.

As for other maintenance, have you changed the oil in the rear dif and the transmission? Also you can change the fuel filter. That is really easy to do.

Make sure to use subaru coolant, if you dont, just make sure the coolant is silicate and phosphate-free. I dont know exactly how important it is to flush it but at ~ 35K miles I drained and refilled with subaru coolant, redline water wetter and distilled water.

If your looking for a good reliable mechanic for servicing purposes, Kevin at Auto HQ is an ex-subaru master mechanic and charges very reasonable rates for jobs that you don't feel comfortable doing yourself.

hope this helps.

The rear diff and tranny are just like changing the motor oil. Drain and refill.

For the transmission fluid I recomend non-synthetic 75w90 gl5 gear oil. Drain, then refill through the dipstick hole. Dont overfill! Capacity is 3.8q, so check fluid level a few times before finishing.

The rear diff takes 0.8q. I would recomend redline 75w90 gear oil. Before you drain, make sure you can open the fill hole, its tough

Fuel filter is supposedly super easy (never done it), dont know about the brake fluid, I took mine to GB and they did it pretty quick and for a good price
