Housing info for Dublin/Pleasanton and eastward?

I currently live in SF in a 1bdrm apt and pay $1000 with parking. However, my girl and I want to move in together somewhere between SF and Stockton. She goes to college there. So we are looking at Livermore and Dublin. We do not want to live much further west or her commute would be too far.

My question is, where do you find affordable housing in these places? I mean they're both ****holes but yet I can't seem to find a decent apt less than $9-950. Also I can't find that many options. I've looked on craigslist, the Tri-valley Herald and Rent.com Anywhere else to look?

Dublin has REALLY nice apartments just off of 580 at the tassajara exit on the north side of the highway. They're a little pricey but worth it. Everything you need is right there at a nice shopping center that the aprtments were built around. I think the apartments and shopping center are owned by the same organization. That would be my first choice if I wasn't in a house. You have covered and secure parking, gym, I'm pretty sure there's a pool. Best of all theres a Pete's Coffee less than a stones throw away. It's going to be a little more than what you're paying now, but since you and your gal are living together you get to split the rent.

Unlike S.F. you won't find any dope dealers on your corner...lol. I am impressed though, how did you find an apartment in the city, with parking for $1000? What street is it on?

Thanks, I think I've seen those off the freeway. To the left as you're heading east? That was actually my question. I can't seem to find anything in the $800 price range. Everything out there seems to be newer style, nice apartments. I also keep finding a lot of 2brms.

I don't want to pay much more because both of our commute costs will go up even if we are splitting rent. Although we do drive out to see eachother most days as it is. Maybe we should just work out a budget to see what we can really afford.

Yes, my current apt isn't in the best neighborhood but it's within walking distance to work and the tenants(except one)are nice. It's on 24th and Folsom. I just ignore the dope dealers and wannabe thugs.

dublin has nice apartments. for $900??? youll get a ghetto older apartment for that price. youll most likely spend anywhere from $1100-1300 for a nice one bedroom.
