Great body, and awesome lens - my only complaint is - not sure how to explain this - but it extends out w/ zoom unlike most L series lenses. For example my 17-40 or my 70-200 stay the same length no matter where the lens is, but when fully zoomed the 24-70 extends out. Non-technical terms I know, and not a big deal but I found it annoying after getting used to my other L lenses.
Cannot go wrong with that body though and this lens, despite the silly nagging issue mentioned above, is one of my favorite lenses, the other being a 50mm. My recommendation is to rent at least the lens, but if you feel like it, rent the body/lens combo and play with it over the weekend before pulling the trigger. K&S Photo in Palo Alto is a great place to rent.

I was going to get a 5D from a friend, but honestly my 20D and such has been sitting on a shelf getting dusty for months so what's the point? Been using the G10 and no real complaints on the pics. I should probably grab that case some time.
