Great body, and awesome lens - my only complaint is - not sure how to explain this - but it extends out w/ zoom unlike most L series lenses. For example my 17-40 or my 70-200 stay the same length no matter where the lens is, but when fully zoomed the 24-70 extends out. Non-technical terms I know, and not a big deal but I found it annoying after getting used to my other L lenses.

Cannot go wrong with that body though and this lens, despite the silly nagging issue mentioned above, is one of my favorite lenses, the other being a 50mm. My recommendation is to rent at least the lens, but if you feel like it, rent the body/lens combo and play with it over the weekend before pulling the trigger. K&S Photo in Palo Alto is a great place to rent.

My wife is a wedding photographer and has 2 of those bodys loves them both I has maybe 2 weddings on it the other one is her regular one she uses keeps the other one as a back up! that lens like stated above does move in and out with the zoom but once you get used to it its a good first lens but my wife wont shoot a photo without a l series lens and for the long zoom is is a must without a tripod! good luck and they are great choices

I was at K&S photo just yesterday trying to get the EF-S 17-55. I try to support local business, but its hard when they charge ~200 dollars more than BHPhoto. To OP, use resellerratings.com to investigate online sites if their prices seem too good to be true (in general, they usually are)

i think it's just the accent . i heard good things with cameta camera especially with the Microsoft Live Cash Back thing. i never had problems with B&H and they are quick to ship. speaking of rude on the phone, the folks at adorama hung up on me when i was complaining about something.

back on topic, soundwave, what makes you decide on the 5d MkII?

umm, ok. Why, it's like getting one new. Why spend more if you don't have to. It's not like new ones take better pix then a used one.

You are going to love that camera when you get it. My buddy just picked it up and full frame for indoor shooting is awesome. Shooting at ISO 5000 and 1/500 shutter speed with low to moderate noise is mind blowing.

BTW K&S is going to have their tax free sale coming up.
