where've you guys been?

that stuffs been going into speakers for like 20 years now

it keeps voice coils cool by passing heat to the steel, and because it's magnetic it stays in the gap even when the woofers are pumpin'

We use ferrofluid at work for various things. Not me personally but other departments. Weird stuff, and useful when you're trying to analyze magnetic films.

Also ferrofluid is used as a sealant for rotating shafts in our vacuum systems. The stuff holds a 10E10 pressure difference across it (atmosphere on one side 10-7 Torr on the other)
