Can you say that for certain?

Have you ever been in the heat of battle...been attacked. Then while trying to cool down had a beer tossed on your face? EVER?

I highly doubt it. I am also very passive. I'm what you call reformed. I don't like violence. I don't support violence. But in some situations..it happens. In that situation..it would take an extraordinary person to not do anything. Or at the very least an extraordinary effort.

I highly doubt artest's motive in going into the stands was to make himself feel better.

Artist is going to loose $4,995,000 because of his supension. That alone is a good reason to restrain yourself.

If you guys watch the replay (the camera angle where they usually televise the whole game), when Artest went after the fan, look at what Ben Wallace did. He thought Artest was going after him (this was like 5 seconds after Wallace threw a towel at him), and went up on the scorer's table ready to fight Artest.

i COMPLETELY agree with OneManArmy. i think most of the fans fighting were actually just trying to provoke the Pacers players to hitting them so they could file a lawsuit and go after their $$$. especially those 2 fat guys that went on the court and got in artests face. they deserved to be knocked out! under no circumstance is it justified for them being on the court. The Pacers players did what they had to do and I dont think they were left with any choice imo. and angry mob attacked them and they fought back. nothing wrong with that. I dont believe ANY person would sit back and let that junk happen to them. i mean, people throwing beer and chairs at you? no way. I am a passive person too, but there is a line and that definately is crossing it.

The punishment by Stern is WAY over the top. He just basically gave fans a free pass to throw stuff at opposing players in order to get them suspended for extended periods of time. think about it. I can go to a warriors game, throw all kinds of crap at Kobe Bryant until he snaps and comes after me.. BOOM. kobe is gone for a year! His team goes into the crapper. Warriors make it to playoffs and win championship!

Stern is wrong, the detroit fans were wrong. I commend artest, Steven Jackson, and Jermaine O Neil for standing up for themselves.

You mean the Warriors couldn't make it to the playoffs with no beer-throwing? =P
