Old guy are you still at HD? If you want to do somthing simple around there I'm in,but there's no need to get crazy over complicated like what's being suggested in this thread. I have experince with situations like these
And had a similar spot until recently. The strangers shop that oneman and the devils are in now is the perfect example of how to do it right.

My two concerns out of the list are Safety and Security. I also like to hear what everyone else has done. So that we can learn and do it so its around for years to come.

But Security is my #1 goal Safety is right behind it. And I know we will need osha and the fire dept inspections / permits..

If you rent a shop that is meant for this then the owners will have the inspections and permits... it's a rental.

Security is pretty simple.

1. Have a security system in place. Break ins are a possibility.
2. Limit who has access/keys/codes. The shop we're at the strangers have a key and we have a key. I don't even have a personal key.

You would basically have to have a primary set of people that handle all that. If there is an alarm code system in place the security companies track those. So if something goes missing you can find out who's code accessed the building at said time.

Bottom line... this is VERY hard to do with a HUGE amount of people. But if it's limited to say 5 heads and of of those 5 people must be in the building at any time with the other people on the list it's doable. I think our shop is accessed by 15 or so guys but I think there are 4 key holders. I want to use it I call one of the 2 guys in our club that are key holders.

Friend of daves, seans, steve, scotty etc. Im out of sc area now unfortunatly.

As oneman said a properly zoned space with a legit landlord will have most stuff sorted
The less people involved the better as far as security and saftey headaches are concerned

Yeah I have a plan that I think is a great idea. I just need maybe 2-3 more people. Then once there is 3-4 of us I'll pitch the idea and we can go from there. I'm looking for a area from Concord to Sunol area. Since I'd more then likely be the head person since its my idea. I'd like it some what close. So if the alarm went off or what not I could get there quick.

If anyone is really wanting to get in this please let me know asap.
