Dealers have little/nothing to do with pricing. Subaru sets the MSRP. The only thing a dealer could do is add a markup, but this car hardly justifies one. Even so, there will be some dealers that will charge a premium I'd imagine.

Just want to point out that the franchises don't set the prices, the factory does. This is the second time I've seen reference to dealers pricing where it doesn't belong in the last few days.

I was talked specifically of mark up, not the dealers creating prices.

When the WRX came out, Stevens Creek marked them up to OVER 35k and people bought them, which gives them more reason to do it again. I know the place has cleaned up, and Im not just talking about SC, many other dealers do this.

I'm kinda conflicted...

If this is supposed to be USDM version of the Spec-C, I think it is supposed to be 'decontented'. AFAIK, the Spec-C replaced the Type RA as the model which was typically used for homologation. Yes I understand that Subaru is not in the WRC anymore with factory-backed efforts, but I think this continues in the same vein as these vehicles.

I'll look forward to seeing one in person (if possible), but other than that, I am scared of the potential markup some dealers will put on this ride.

Or internals that are worth a crap at all! Until a sti has some forged pistons, Im not buying another one. I dont care what trim model it comes in.

Now it would be pretty cool if the car came with a BB turbo, and recaros.

The car isn't worth a markup. It's just another trim level.

In Irvine we didn't mark the WRX up when it was released (I had to fight hard for that) and we sold more than any other dealer in the country. I understand markup, but it should only be used for vehicles that actually demand it - i.e. Mustang GT500KR.

Sometimes dealers will add money to a limited edition car because they DON'T want to sell it. Believe it or not sometimes the car will bring people into the showroom and having it around a bit longer than normal is a good thing.

I hope that's the deal... I don't know much about how dealers operate just going off what I've seen in the past.

I actually got my 2.5RS at Irvine Subaru back in Jan 2000... Got it through a site called www.carorder.com and got the best damn price ever. I rocked the Irvine Subaru plates for a good year before I finally put plates on... The damn temp plates were bright pink and black if I remember correctly.

I also remember meeting you back in 2001 at the Rim of the world rally, you were a co-driver or something.

The power should have been bumped up a bit, throw in some recaro's and some body differences...i think its a money making idea subaru came up with rather than a REAL enthusiast vehicle IMO
