hit and run.
So i was driving home from work yesterday from the city and on the 280 south to 101 south junction, a lady in a green honda element side swiped me while trying to merge in my lane. I followed her for about 5 mins to get her license plate while my friend called 911 and tried honking to pull her over but she just kept on goin. The 911 operator suggested we just pull over and wait for CHP so we did. Minor damage which will probably get me a new bumper and maybe a new door. My question is, what is the penalty for a hit and run on the highway? I filed a police report with CHP and filed my claim with my insurance as soon as i got home. I'm not too mad because i needed a new bumper and door anyway. I just hope they catch the lady to get her off the road. sigh
It's QQ thankyouverymuch

Well since you got the license plate number, take it to the police dept. in whichever city it occurred, and see if one of the officers will take a report or a counter report and they can file it under that. For your information, since no one was really hurt, it is a misdemeanor. At the max, you can spend time in county jail, but at the minimum it is two points on your driving record and a big fine.

You have her plates, which is huge, but you also have a witness who is unrelated to you, which basically puts the nail in the coffin. It's kind of funny that people try to run, especially when your car is not disabled, because they're just royally screwing themselves over.

People need to look over their shoulders before changing lanes..
11ty billion mph flyby's after protune much? hehe - don't think folks are expecting someone to suddenly accelerate / commence flyby with excessive delta speed in traffic.

Looking in your mirrors can't help if you don't set them up properly. People just need to stop being fat and look over there shoulder.
And not the merge, signal, half way into the lane, look over shoulder, hit car, and yell hell at me for your mistake.
