And for those to lazy to read the article...
"OPEC's decision Wednesday to cut oil production by 4 percent likely will drive gasoline prices in California up by as much as 8 cents a gallon within a week, pushing the cost of fueling cars to record levels."

You can thank the EPA for the special blend of gas that CA must burn, and while other states enjoy an average of $1.85/gal, we get to pay more for our 91octane ****.

Thanks for the link!
As for those fo you who were saying they would ride the bus at $3.00....do it now. The bus can get you most places faster and cheaper than you can do it in your car. Especially with the coming bridge toll increases.
For example...you could take my bus from UC Bart to Deer Creek (out by old page mill road) for $3.00 a trip and get there in 40 minutes. Or to Cal Train in PA in 30 mins. Do this in a car, and you will take almost the same amount of time for travel, have to find parking, have to pay for parking, and have to pay for gas, plus the toll.
So if you get 20 MPG and run 91 octane the 19 mile trip will cost you:
1 gal fuel $2.35, parking $2-10 a day, bridge toll $2.00, average of $.035/mi maintenance of .670 so you spend...
$7.02-$15.65 for the one way trip.
Bus = $3.00 = Savings of 60-80% just to go to work.
