If anyone has installed HID lights, can you please advise where you put the ballasts.

 

I have one next to my windshield wiper fluid tank and the other i just tucked around something next to my intake. I have all of the wires zip tied together so the ballasts kind of just hang loose with them - they dont really flop around much if you do that.

 

I mounted my driver side one next to my battery and my passenger side one against the inner fender.

 

I stuck mine up by the top hats. Seemed easy.

 

what kind of HID kits are you guys running?

 

On the 06 wrx's they have the plastic on the back of the lights and thats also a blob eye headlight

That's an STi tho with the ballast on the light,

 

I'm running MY06 off of DDM Tuning 55W 6500k setup. My back plastic protectors are off. Thus moister gets in and helps ruin the lights.

 

^ I suggest cutting holes in the plastic protectors so you can use them. I did that and don't have moisture issues

 

I'm running a 6000K H4 kit from xenonlink.

 

up between the fender frames and skins with industrial grade double stick tape. the same stuff oems use for surface mount body kits.

they've withstood mountain touge driving, 120+ degree ambient heat, below freezing temps, and haven't budged.

On what year car?

I want to see what someone with a 06-07 wrx did, other than baking the headlights and putting them inside the housing. I know I'll have to do something for my HID's.

btw, ddm tuning slim 35w 4300k. one of my best purchases in a long time.

 

i had an 05 and was able to take out the headlight and neatly double sided taped them under the lights. It was very slick, you couldn't see them with the lights installed and they got cold air from the air dam.
