This whole thing kinda reminds me of when I was in southern Oregon about ten years back. I was walking around in a mall and some guy yells out "hey it's Hop Sing from Bonanza".. At that point, I realized I was the "only" asian guy in the mall and thought oh crap.. My parents bought a condo in the redneck area of Oregon.. Well, I just waved back and smiled..

man, I really hate people... Why must people talk smack in public? Does it make them feel better about themselves? Are they so insecure that they feel the need to belittle someone for their own amusment and to make them feel all tough and mighty?


I have a very similar problem with a lot of short guys... I've always been really tall (since birth), and through all my years I've never been picked on by anyone of normal height, it's always someone 5'6 or below. The reason is Napoleanic complex. They feel a need to start crap with me to make themselves feel better all because of their insecurities about being short... They think if they can punk the 6'6" guy in front of his friends/girlfriends that it will somehow make them all mightier and feel better about their height.

I used to put up with it up until about 9th grade in high school... Something snapped in my mind and I got fed up with people treating me like crap just so they can make themselves feel better about being short.

I'll never forget the first time I snapped at some short little due for talking crap to me in front of my ex-girlfriend (he was with his GF and friends). I was in a sporting good store and pretended to walk away as they were laughing... I picked up a basketball which was near by and threw it at him as hard as I could... I caught him off guard so the ball bounced off the side of his face... Security got involved and I almost got arrested... Luckily I didn't.

I learned a lesson that day... Don't fight people with witnesses around, wait until you're in the clear so you can inflict damage without getting in trouble.

Since I'm now 28, people don't say things to me anymore... It all pretty much stopped when I turned about 22 or 23... But the years of 18-22 I got in more fights then I can remember, ALL of which were with short guys that just wanted to start crap with me for the sake of making themselves feel better for being so damn short.


Ive never had a problem with anyone of any ethnicity, shape, size, etc... EXCEPT for short people. I don't hate all short people, its a specific kind... You can spot them anywhere anytime... The little tough guys with chips on their shoulders. Hard to explain, but if you've been in my shoes you'd know the type as well.

I can't imagine being Gagan... It would drive me crazy. Gagan is a bigger man then I am and I respect him dearly for that. You go G.

Looking back, I was literally in shock. I must've stood there for over 15/20 seconds just looking back and trying to process what the **** he just said to me.

I heard it all the time after 9/11, but, to hear it 7 Years later, it just hit me hard at the moment.

I don't let things like that bother me so much, peoples ignorance. It's when ignorance groups together and submits their hatred against people, that's what enrages me.

I guess I don't care so much what they say about me so much as what they say about others. I don't let it get me down.

I think about his kids... growing up around him. What will they think of him? Will they be ignorant like him? or will they see his wrongs be different than him?

One can only hope.

 

yeah, hopefully when his kids hit that age when they start forming their own opinions they are filled with a giant sense of shame in their ignorant father.
