Hey guys, new WRX owner here
Just posting to say high, I bought my new 2005 WR Blue WRX 2 weeks ago and I love it to death. What kind of meets/events go on around here? I live on the coast side but I spend a lot of time in the San Mateo area, you may have seen me cruising around CSM as thats where I work.
I am also interested in getting into auto cross and other SCCA related events as I got a years membership with my car purchase. But I have no idea where to start.
I am totally new to the subaru scene, so any advice is warmly welcome.
thanks

I hope this advice is good, I "hear" that if you sign up for that SCCA membership and subaru finds out u participated in an event they can use that against u in the future voiding your warranty. Not positive but sounds like it could be true.

Anyway, welcome to the board, bowchee. Enjoy the car.

Congrats on the new car. Depending on your level of enthusiasm with the car, get ready to make this money pit a part of your life hehehe. Whats your first mod gonna be? I would suggest a good tire / wheel combination but thats just me.

Just like Phillip Moris pays scienticets to make a filter that doesnt really work... u see where im going with this?

welcome...i'm fairly new to this board too and i'm in san mateo. I have an '05 STi and track it at NASA events in the area....I'd recommend NASA over SCCA because of how well it's run considering how many people they flow through a track. Hit me up if you ever need a hand working on your car or if you want to go to a track day....you'll become addicted after your first session.

I can't believe it- some of you are guys still whining about SCCA membership?
Here is what that gets you, a year long subscription to the newsletter and discounts on track days, autocross and road rally entries, and it allows you to volunteer to work major track events like the Nascar, CART, and ALMS races.
If you abuse your vehicle on the track or in an autocross, just like if you abuse it on the road- and there is a failure due to that abuse, Subaru is not going to be inclined to pay to get it fixed, this is the case for pretty much every auto manufacturer out there.
But nowhere in signing up with SCCA does it tell you you must abuse your car, or even that you need to enter any of these events.
You do that and its your responsibility, it's not Subaru's or SCCA's.
The same goes for NASA, only Subaru doesn't pay your first year's membership.

Welcome! You say you're from the coast side, are you implying HMB? If so, I'm from there - Ocean Colony. Maybe we can meet up. The most popular meet that I go to is UCKK (Union City Krispy Kreme) in Union Landing. It occurs every Tuesday @ 8pm. We usually grab some grub @ Chilis first...

Congratulations on your new toy! They are great fun and fantastic value for money.
As mentioned above, there are numerous events in the bay area from track days and auto-x to full track events. I have been auto-xing my WRX for the last three years in the SFR SCCA. Their www is: http://www.sfrscca.org/solo2/
I don't remember NASA's main address, but someone else (or a quick Googling) should find it easily enough. Their auto-x address is: http://www.geocities.com/nasa_autox/
