What website did you visit? Mitsucars.com If so that site isn't slow but they don't even have it updated with the EVO on it. So I don't know what the trim levels are.
Mitsubishi's Lancer Evo site is: http://mitsubishicars.com/MMSA/jsp/evo/index.jsp
San Rafael Mitsubishi is only getting 14 Evo's for the year, so distrubution seems small. I'd expect that to change. They told me they were getting their first one in Febuary (this was last week).
I think it's great though that another manufacturer is bringing their rally-based production car here. Hopefully this will open up the market to other manufacturers bringing in fast AWD turbos. I'd love to see the Audi S3 or VW GTI AWD here, or Ford do the Focus right and sell a Turbo AWD version to the public.
I can see the STI vs. Evo shoot outs on the cover of the car mags now.

Yeah, I think ~March is the official timeframe for release to dealers, and from the LA show video, they're expecting to sell 4500 in the US. I'm sure they'll easily double that if they have the manufacturing capacity.
Pictures of the new Evo and others from the upcomming LA car show:

The front of the Evo looks fugly to me - worse than a bad american car...

from what I have seen...
Mitsu's reliability might not be as solid for the past few years. Unless they have "strengthened" their process of manufacturing, it might be tough to judge their reliability. Not to say that all of our impreza's have been "perfect," but some might disagree.
Also, having watched a year's worth of FIA's WRC highlights this passed wednesday, I feel that that's why Mitsu pulled out of a couple of races, and maybe even a season. Reliaibility. (Not to say that Makinnen had a superior season...no wonder they are bringing in Petter for the auto show). As far as Subaru's position in the races, they were right in the middle of the manufacturer's points...versus all the others.
Yet, we shall see what happens in the near future. I will still like my subaru, becuase it's the first AWD I have owned, and it's quick to boot. I have been quite satisfied during my driving time. I am sure there will be those who think theirs is faster, yours is faster, and on and on, and on.
Welcome to competition. Welcome Evo. Beware.
later,
i.

Yep, at first I thought it looked like a Mustang with that grill and those squarish headlights. I have to admit it's kinda growing on me though.
Hopefully they get a front LSD in future models.

Decent package imo.
a few things hold it back:
1.interior design/quality
2. tailight design
3. front end design (seems too round vs boxy)
should be nice otherwise.
