Help...road trip...no audio

damn it man. My car didn't get done in time and it's party my fault and partly the stereo guys. Had my car most of monday and had tuesday night to work on it and really didn't until Wed. But then again he didn't expect me to need it today. Bah.

Anyways....so I'm stuck with a car with no stereo in it at all and I have to drive from milpitas to Sacramento to Redding then to lake trinity...another half hour to an hour away. Then all the way back in the span of tonight to monday night tuesday morning....that's a lot of freakin driving with no stereo.

So....I have a disc man and some crappy freakin speakers.

I was thinking of buying a boom box type a deal but I won't really ever use it again and I'd have to spend $50 on batteries for the trip. So then I thought...well I need a small stereo for my bedroom. Maybe I buy one of those and pick up a power inverter some place....or borrow one from someone.....

So here I am pleading to you guys...do not doom me to 15 hours of driving with nothing to listen too but my sweet flat 4 and the voices in my head.

Anyone have a boom box I could borrow? Or a power inverter that would work for your average circuit city mini stereo for my bedroom? Help me. Please.

I'm in milpitas. I have to be in sacramento by 7:50. Figure I should leave around 5pm.

well I'm gonna have other people in the car so the I pod won't work.

As for my stereo. It's sitting in the installers garage probably. He was in the middle of working on my car and had the entire interior out and I made him put it back in so I could take the car. Sucks for both of us. Him more work. Me more money and no stereo.

so do you have speakers in your car? I can have my stock deck installed in <15 minutes as long as the stock wiring harness is there.

I don't know if the stock harness is in the car. I looked in there while I was driving. I saw 2 sets of RCA's. Some speaker wire. A ground. An antena wire. And a white harness but I don't know if it's stock or the alpine one. Don't know what they look like. I'm assuming it's not the stock one cause if it was I'd assume he would put my stock deck back in.

Sucks.

I already have a stock deck...just sitting in his garage along with my 2 alpine decks. errrr.

This sucks.

I think I will need to borrow someone's boom box or go buy one...I really don't want to buy some piece of crap boom box I'll never use..errrrr.

I have to be on the road by 5 I think? Anyone have experience driving to Sacramento around that time? I have to be at the airport around 7:45 tonight.

my cousins are gonna be bummed. I told them they'd have playstation to play and dvd's to watch on the way up...now they get NOTHING....errr.

oh speakers....I do believe the stock speakers are still in but honestly I have no idea. He may have taken them out. I know he put my tweeters in the a-pillars already but they are in his garage as well.

on any none-ghetto car audio install, the stock harness is left in, and an adapter is wired to the harness that comes with your deck.
its not hard to install a deck in our cars, pull out the cup holder, unscrew the 2 side screws behind the cupholder face plate, then just pull the trim off that is around the stereo, 6 screws to undo the mounting bracket then use 4 screws to mount the deck in the bracket ( just like installing a hard drive in a computer ), plug the stock harness in, plug in the antenna and your done.
It literally takes no more then 15 minutes with a hand driven phillips screw driver. =)

Cant you swing by and pickup your stock deck?

It's even easier in my car man. I have NO trim. You don't have to do anything but reattach a few things and rescrew the 6 screws. There is seriously a big hole in my dash...don't even have the stock clock in there.

I'd go get the stock deck but he works and won't be home in time for me to do all that.

Man I'm really bummed. I just heard my price for install went up $600 and I just can't swing that right now. So my car is all ripped apart and I don't know what to do. I'm freakin stressed out and my anxiety issues are kickin up full gear right now. ****ing sucks.

I got family counting on me. I got a stereo installer that's not happy. I'm not happy. My cars all ****ed up. I have no stereo...errrrr.

And I have about an hour to get like 3 hours of work done.

Everything will be OK dood. Maybe take 5 minutes to do a speed walk outside, it will help for sure.

Its all about letting go of your stresses because in the end nobody is going to hate you, and life will be good again. If your life was always like this then you wouldn't be able to have a subaru, or afford a gaming console in your car.

If you need help just let us know, or at least me. =)

haaaaa.

No joke man. Truth is...I'm blessed. I have a great life most of the time and a great family. Not to mention a great car. The gaming consol thing was actually the cheap part man.

Already had the PS2. Got an extra set of wires when my friends ps2 blew up. And I got the Mattjk screen for next to nothing when I bought my cd player like....8 months ago. Beein sitting while I saved money. Already had the amp and most of the wires from my old car.

So believe me it's not that. I have just always had anxiety issues and sometimes bunches of little things just get to me. Especially with lack of sleep and food. Was up last night stressin and doing laundry so I slept like 3 hours. So it's not that i think the world is gonna end or anything like that. I just am hard on myself for letting peole down and I let some small things get to me this time around. Nobody is bullet proof I guess.

I guess at this point I'd be happy with just a boom box. Be nice if I could get my deck back. But guy won't be back until well after I have to be on the road.

Thanks man...actually that little wake up call worked.

Depending on your route, 5:00pm should be fine.

My suggestion:

680-580-205-5

Do NOT go 680-80. It bottlenecks at the Cordelia Junction and you'll be sitting there for an hour just to go like 2 miles...

hmmm.....that sounds good. Will that get me to the sac airport? I've never been to that airport before.

What do you think on travel time...you think 5 is a good leaving time to get there by 7:50?
