Unhappy Help!! (re:Bank of America)

does anyone have a good bank of america hook-up??

Somehow, someone cashed a check in Nov. that was written in January of 03, and it put like 350.00 in Bank Fees on my acct. (due to everything was thrown off...like snowball effect...) I do know of stories where a bank employee can take off (NSF) fees, if you know somebody...

-Thanks.

kind of OT, but I thought that a check is only good for 180 days from the day it was written.

so did i, but i guess not...i called the main 800 #, and they said there was nothing they can do. I dont want to switch to Washington Mutual, but they dont have horrible bank fees...
I like Bank of America...just not the corperate office as they steal 300 dollars from a college student. (who only makes like 150 a paycheck...

I had a $200+ in fees snowball effect once when I was on vacation in Hawaii. BofA doesnt have any branches there, nor does any non-Hawaiian bank for that matter.

When calling customer service always go to a manager and if they cant help you ask for their manager. Keep going until you get what you want. Believe me, it works.

I ended up convincing them to drop all of the fees except the first one which triggered it.

that's cool. I know what its like to starve as a student, I just had rusty old BMW.

So is this really a case of you just not balancing your checkbook?

I know B of A ppl that can help with this, but I have to know, OTW they might not help.

Flee BofA. They love to charge you fees for everything. They will even try to charge you for closing your accounts when you leave, but if you transfer all your money out before you tell them you are closing the account, they can't. Everyone I know who was once a BofA customer has a story similar to yours and has fled.

Just to clarify, are you saying that someone got a hold of 2 of your checks, forged your signature twice, and then cashed the checks? If all of this is true, you have a legitimate fraud case. Here's some suggestions:
1) You need to get a copy of the two checks and see if the signatures are yours or not (make the bank compare the signatures to the signature key card you signed when you first opened your account).
2) Call the 800 # and ask for their security or fraud department number. The agents who answer the phone doesn't have any say to help you out (they have to ask if they can tie their own shoe).
3) If the checks were cashed locally, you have to file a police report (just like credit card fraud).

no. sorry for the missunderstanding.
-I wrote a check in January. for 40 dollars
-It just appeared on my bank statement in Nov.
-I had no idea it was allowed to go through after 6 months
-I had 4 other transactions go through like 5.00, 10.00, etc...
-Put my acct. into overdraft. One NSF (no such funds) Fee (128.00)
-Then had deposit. thought i had the extra 120.00 in acct. but no, it was taken to pay for overdraft b/c of 40 dollar check from hell.
-Then another NSF Fee (32.00) I still think i have 160.00 extra in acct. but it has been taken out...
-then another NSF fee, Then another...etc...

-End Result: around 350.00 Owed to Bank of America. paid, because they automatically take it out of acct... NoW...no more money. want to cry...not really...yet...sob. all because of that STUPID CHECK!!!

If that's the case then sorry, it really is up to BofA if they want to help you out or not For what's it's worth, WAMU just hit me up for $42 in NSF fees because they put a hold on a check I deposited To all the banks that pick on broke college students... to you all.

Do not go to Washington Mutual, my father is an attorney that specializes in Banking Law and he told me that he gets at least 3 calls a week from people who have had major problems with Washington Mutual. There are hidden fees with them, and they will never take them off.
BofA is not that much better, but if you call them and explain everything and keep doing it (very nicely) they should reverse it. Look on your checks does it say something about being void after a certain number of days, if it does then you have an argument based on that too.
Then again BofA has made some really dumb moves, we joke that my dad's last BMW should have said "THX BOFA" BofA screwed up big time and would not fix it, my dad ended up getting a jury settlement that was much higher then he told his client he would be sure to get, so the client kicked down a nice bonus and my dad came home in a BMW that day, mom let some curse words slip before he told her the story. Normally after a big win he goes gets drunk with his buddies, this time he went car shopping.

general principle with banks... if you got money they don't bother you, if you don't they pretty much bend you over...

Back when I was a student similar stuff happened but with Wells ****-you err. fargo.. sorry.. but now... nothing ever happens...
