help with my camry

sup guys my second car is dying and I was hoping for some input on what the problem might be. Its an old car and has always needed to be warmed up in the morning, but lately it has been idling rough and stutters when i hit the gas. It seems to be getting worse, so i havnt drivin it in a while. For some reason im sure its the fuel pump. But im not a mechanic so who knows. Any ideas?

I'd start with a basic tuneup, spark plugs, wires, air filter, clean the mass airflow sensor.

Doesn't sound like the fuel pump unless it stumbles at higher RPM/wont start. If the pump was going out it would be hard to start, or when its pushing a lot of fuel and cannot keep up with the demand.

1994 5sfe 2.2 motor. I would try and just clean the crap out of the throttle body and see where that lands you. It should probably clear up most if not all of your problems with it that your having right now.

Pull out spark plug wires and check to see if any of them have oil on the boot. Also clean out the MAF sensor with electriclean/maf cleaner and see if it helps.

My guess is oil in the boots though.

hey I have a 94 camry as a second car too but anyways, for me every morning or on a cold start, the car would instantly die as soon as I start it, so what I learned was that I just gave it a bit of gas and held onto it for a while until the car was warmed up, then it runs fine. honestly I never took it to a mechanic to fix it or anything, but it works fine still and I've been warming it up like this for years. sorry I didn't give any useful info, just thought I'd share my own experience.

the stumbling at higher rpm and in boost sounds like my Audi right now. but it does it off the line too.

You probably want to clean the IAC. If it's a problem mostly at startup and idle then I'd start there.

I'd have to agree with these guys, get a tune up and see where it goes from there. Ask them to flush all your fluids too.

Look at your airbox where the filter is, follow the big air tube and the part on the other side is the throttle body.

*****UPDATE*****

it occured to me that i havnt done a tune up since i bought my suby, and that was a year ago. thanks for all the input! i changed the air filter (which was really bad, most likely the problem) and new plugs and wires. my car is the 4 cylinder so it didnt have a MAS....it has a MAP...a little plug that hooks straight to the air intake. sprayed that for good measure. good as new. thanks again!
