Yes, disregard the guy who knows what he's talking about. You're always the man with the plan Heedz. Tell us how it's done.

Lenses. He can't just toss HIDs in his stock headlights. He needs to replace his halogen optics with HID ones. TSX, S2000, and RX300 are popular choices depending on the fitment.

Agreed. If you look at any post this guy has done on either here or iwsti it's nothing but negative comments and nothing helpful. I think the recommendation on what "optics" are common is the only useful advice I've seen him post. by "optics" he really means what projectors are you going to use.

agreed. ive been through countless forums where this guys posts. ya, they are sometimes (most of the times negative). but on his behalf, it does seem like he knows what hes talking about. on everyones elses behalf im sure, not everyone has the $$$ to spend on the top top notch things. new lenses on an HID conversion? really? take some oreily headlight restorer to them stock lenses and i dont really see any need to buy another set of lenses or optics or what not. i agree that lenses play a good role in how your hedlights light up the road...but by how much? and at what cost? anyways, all im saying is that i agree with Brfatal with the fact taht BCs are not the best coils, or that you need more than just bulbs, relays, etc. for a perfect light. but eveyone has their own taste for their own cars at their own budget.

hope the HID problem worked out! i have 6k ebay ones. granted not the best out there (flicker just a tiny bit, notcible when stopped behind someone). but deff better than stock halogens! but yes, very interesting that yours did not come stock HID...

Funny thing, yes he can. He can do whatever he wants to his car. It's his car... Although getting new projectors is recommended, it's certainly not required.

W0ng3r, there are plenty of people who can help you do the install. Pm me if you still need help.

"Optics" is not a word most people would have to look up in the dictionary.

As for nothing helpful, you've clearly never read a post of mine as that's what 99% of my posts are.

"Not everyone can afford that too". It's the same as asking for someone to help install a bigger turbo but then everyone telling him it's ok to run since he can't afford injectors or a retune. If you can't afford to do it the right way then you can't afford to do it at all.

As for "negative most of the time", are you sure? I guess learning is frowned upon on this forum. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the best answer is not always the one you want to hear. That's today's life lesson for you. If that's what makes me negative I don't know what you want me to tell you. Learn the difference between someone being negative and informative but not always spoon feeding (rather encouraging learning) and telling people what they need to hear (not what they want to hear).

HID optics can be had for cheap. You can get TSX projectors for $150. It's just a matter of knowing how to install them. The difference they make is massive. And keep in mind that this is the only Subaru forum that seems to advocate the use of HIDs without retrofits. Had he posted this on ClubWRX, NASIOC, WRXTuner, IWST, etc then he would have been told not to by everyone. And probably in a hostile manner.

Oh he can, just as I can install 100w driving lights on my car and return the favor. It's not required for fitment, but it's required common courtesy for other drivers on the road and in the loosest of ways it's required for to maintain legality.

I wasn't rude. I posted solid advice (literally the best advice in this thread since nobody else has a clue what they are talking about) and yet again Heedz comes out swinging. 1 sarcastic post later so does everyone else.

I agree with br that hids in halogen is a no no. But I don't think it's as big a deal on the newer wrx considering they come with projectors. This cuts down already a good amount of glare and the squirrel finders can even be deleted to reduce the glare even more. My old bug eye had hid kit and the output was **** with no cutoff whatsoever, hence why I have projectors in my new one now

OK, this will be the last post in this thread, it's spiraled downwards.

1) I do have projectors and I am doing a complete retrofit

2) @BR: the use of the word "optics" is vague as best in such a scenario, yes, no one has to look it up in a dictionary to know it means that you are referring to something pertinent to the sense of sight. But at the end of the day, vague at best.

3) I've seen my fair share of bad advice on subaru, honda and mazda boards, and everyone knows it would be counterproductive to argue so childishly on a forum just for e-***** size.
