My girlfriend says "Go to the pier (39) and see the sea lions, also on the pier there is this place that fries little donuts and pours sugar on them. bomb trust me. And the great finally is take her to a good restaurant and treat her to some chocolate covered strawberries at Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory right next to the pier parking garage." Trust me i get *** every time!!

I say don't be so lame with the fancy restaurant and romantic stroll along the pier schtick. You're just starting in college after all and it's cool to be cheap (but not too cheap...no splitting the bill or nothin').
Avoid the North Beach and Pier 39 tourist trap. Head over to Irving and 14th (around there...), and go to San Tung Restaurant...very cool authentic Chinese/Korean restaurant. Get the dried fried beef. It'll be crowded as heck but that'll give ya the chance to be close to her. Then, after the dinner, head over to the Haight-Ashbury district and check out the psychedelic riff-raff...it's gaudy and hippy as hell, but the crowd is young and yuppy. Stop in at Hobson's for a brew. If this is during the day, swing by the Japanese Tea Garden...it's super cheap and way cool. Then just head down to the ocean to check out the sunset.
Anyways...I vote for mellow and chill. You don't have to throw money at a girl to get into her pants...unless of course, she's that type of girl.

^^ I agree with that. Trying to take a chick to some super fancy and romantic restaurant is pretty cliche. Unless you feel like you're going to marry her I'd save my money at this point.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. First of all, I don't need any dating advice thank you. This girl is pretty special so I'm not looking to pay for ***, the title of my thread was just a joke. Were probably gonna end up getting a hotel room earlier in the night then walking around from there cause I don't really wanna drive much in SF. And to the guy from Davis, whats up, im a 3rd year and drive a black 05 wagon. If anybody knows a decent hotel in a good area with restaurants, etc then let me know. Thanks again for the help.

Where you stay depends on how much you spend. The financial district is always fun and there are a ton of really nice hotels. I like The Argent, which is right outside Union Square. Rooms there are typically $230/night and up. The Hyatt in Embaracadero center is also fun and that one has a restaurant on the top that revolves so you can get a full view of the city while you eat dinner. The restaurant is called "Equinox". It's sort of pricy though - expect $100+ for dinner depending on whether or not you buy alcohol.
If you want to eat at a really quiet and nice place, go to Sausalito and eat at Angelines. That place is ****ing awesome italian food. Love that restaurant. It's not too expensive either.

take her to twin peaks...you gotta go there...you can get your mack on there. Also north beach is nice, the pier is a total tourist trap, but you can take her to the ghear deli square for some desert. I am a cheap chinese boy too, my gf don't care most of the time hehehe
In 'n out at the Pier is open, just kidding. But really depends on what kind of food you want to eat, you can go to Japan town as well. Go see a show somewhere or a comedy club, if you're into that kind of stuff.

Since you know her and she's special blah blah blah. then you don't need all the bells and whistles.
1. Take her to in and out
2. Hit up 711 for some 40oz's of fun
3. Motel 6 "They leave the light on for you"
4. Let the magic begin.

It's in Hayward, great place in my opinion. It will be a pretty penny though, but very very great food. Call in advanced as they only have one cook (the owner) and it is a cozy place. Let us know how it goes!
