My wife literally might hate me. (J/k. She's super understanding, but she is pissed off about the car).

Sway bars and end-links will make a huge difference.

I just had my FXT tuned at GST. I am very, VERY happy with the results.

Being spot on and being friendly can be seperate.

Lol. All these abrev's are getting me.

"Lessons" which sound like verbal reprimanding is what I'm bothered by. The guy was nice and asking for advice. To many people on here think its fine to just use their knowledge and kinda smack people on the head with it. This needs to be a friendly place to go for answers. Do you agree?

It may have been friendly for OMA but it still was a bit rude in its explicator. :-)

This is very valuable advice, and I will take heed. Sorry about not searching first. I know better. I would love to go to a meet. I will search for locations and times.

Thanks

Lesson number 2:
If you plan on adding parts as you go and want to be tuned for each addition... get an accessport. You can run the OTB tunes until you get farther along.

Lesson number 3:
Tuning for an exhaust on your car isn't really a necessity and the gains will be minimal. If you plan on adding parts any time in the near future just wait until you get those parts installed to get a professional tune. The difference between an OTB cobb tune, stock tune, pro tune at your current model level is truly minimal.

Lesson number 4:
Power without suspension, tires and brakes... pointless unless you like to brag about how big your **** is.

My advice would be to go to some meets. Ask some questions. Do research. Learn as much as possible. Visit your local vendors.

For you it's going to more than likely be GST, Mann and Speed Element.

Beyond that, I would suggest sway bars, endlinks, spring/struts. The first round of power mods is probably gonna be a full TBE and a tune for that. Great gains to be had there.

great suggestions. I will look into it. I am looking at trying some things before purchasing the accessport.

If you only are interested in 1 modest tune I would get it open source tuned, that way you don't have to buy the accessport. Saves you money and you'll probably put down 230 HP to the wheels.

It actually wasn't rude at all. Did you take your education as rude? Was it rude when your teachers told you that columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492?

I didn't intend it as rude.

If I had I would have said... search *** hole. Or hey... I'll google that for you.
There's really no question when I'm being rude.

What I did was give him some advice on the order of doing things. Starting with searching and going to meets. How is that rude?

I guess it would be better to let him run off with the first advice from some dip****? Searching is HUGE. Asking questions is great.

All,

I did not take the advice as rude. I appreciate any input. I am new to the scene and will make many mistakes. Please do not hesitate to do whatever it takes.

Thanks

That's good man. If you come out to a meet, I suggest the one tonight as a good place to start. It's one of the larger ones and the folks there are all pretty awesome. It's the Vajayjay statue meet.

I may show up for a little bit later on before I head home... maybe. If you hear a loud white 04 wagon come in with JDM fogs and no roof rails... probably me. Come say hi.

One thing that's hard to remember is that just because someone says it on a forum it doesn't make it gospel. I ask questions every now and again on the forums but I generally follow that up with in person questions to folks I trust and some searching. And not everyone is going to agree... another reason that lots of research helps. LOL.

Hopefully I'll see you around. Make sure you come out to BAM and say hi.
