hello and quick question

Hello all,

I have an 08 WRX and the only upgrade I currently have is the Q300 exhaust. I would like to get my WRX performance tuned. I live in Santa Clara and was wondering if there are any Subaru tuners near by that I can take my car too.

Thanks

Brian

GST Motorsports in Hayward or Equilibrium Tuning in Fairfield... both of them are active members here on I-club... I would shoot them a PM or call.

Do you want to get an Access port or have an open source tune?

Mann Engineering is in Santa Clara.... You will have to discuss a tune with him though, as their tuner only comes to the bay area once he has enough clients lined up.

Not exactly sure you want to tune with just an exhaust though.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am just exploring options being new to the suberu scene. I would like a mild mod because I need to use my car as a daily driver to work and back.

Sway bars and endlinks, best first mod.

I built my car specifically for daily driving, not track or show, but it will handle a little more than DD

Lesson number 1:
Search is your friend. This question gets asked a LOT. It will come down to your personal preference and your needs. If you go open source or if you go accessport or ecutek or any of the other options will determine who is available to you.

Lesson number 2:
If you plan on adding parts as you go and want to be tuned for each addition... get an accessport. You can run the OTB tunes until you get farther along.

Lesson number 3:
Tuning for an exhaust on your car isn't really a necessity and the gains will be minimal. If you plan on adding parts any time in the near future just wait until you get those parts installed to get a professional tune. The difference between an OTB cobb tune, stock tune, pro tune at your current model level is truly minimal.

Lesson number 4:
Power without suspension, tires and brakes... pointless unless you like to brag about how big your **** is.

My advice would be to go to some meets. Ask some questions. Do research. Learn as much as possible. Visit your local vendors.

For you it's going to more than likely be GST, Mann and Speed Element.

Beyond that, I would suggest sway bars, endlinks, spring/struts. The first round of power mods is probably gonna be a full TBE and a tune for that. Great gains to be had there.

Hey bud,

A good upgrade for you would be a Walboro 255 fuel pump and a boost controller. Digital 3 port is my preference. If you only are interested in 1 modest tune I would get it open source tuned, that way you don't have to buy the accessport. Saves you money and you'll probably put down 230 HP to the wheels.

That was a long helpful post, and this is coming from someone who used to argue with OMA on a semi regular basis.

Delicious Tuning. I've been talking to him about a tune on mine and he recommended a few things.

Regardless of what you think, he is spot on. Sometimes the truth hurts.
