So I was driving behind a black Ford Cobra today, looks late-model and loud. Anyways we pull onto Sloat from Portola in SF and I get into the lane next to him. He looks over at my black WRX and revs and is looking hard, and I'm thinking it's rare to see a young Asian man driving a muscle car, that's cool. So Cobra dude pulls up next to my window and says, "This thing will smother you, doood."



OK so I first starting laughing hysterically. Then I start laughing harder as he pulls into the right lane and is about to turn off onto 19th Ave. I'm like, WHAT you're going to talk trash and then run off in the other direction?! So I holler at him, "Come on dude let's go!" and he pulls back into a lane to continue on Sloat.

There is decent traffic on Sloat in all three lanes. So what does Cobra dude do when the light turns green? He flies down the street while I'm just cruising along behind the other cars hoping they will turn off so I can have a safe road to drive on. He flies in front of a bunch of cars, cuts two lanes of traffic off, gets into the far left turn lane, flips a u-turn and drives in the OTHER DIRECTION. This is after driving on Sloat for two blocks.

As he's headed in the other direction on Sloat, I give him a big THUMBS DOWN and laugh at him. And I really hope he saw me cause he had a bad attitude and he deserved it.

To the Cobra dude: if you're going to talk **** and look hard, #1 don't do it in a Ford. #2 don't think you won a "race" after you took off in front of the other "racer" while they're stuck in traffic. #3 don't run from the race after YOU talked smack. #4 the streets are not a NASCAR loop and you're not a NASCAR driver when you cut other cars off you're just obnoxious.

even though it's a ford that engine is one of the strongest motors out right now and if he did race youm you would have lost unless you have a decent sized turbo.

 

From what I know, the recent Mustang Cobra's supercharging system has a flaw in which it gets so hot that it loses efficiency and loses horsepower as it gets hotter as a result.

Regardless of the supercharger problems, I aint scared of no V8. My car is damn close to stock and it runs very strong. Wish I could have taken him on the track and see how well my dinky little 2.0 turbo could hold up against big heavy 5.0 supercharged power.

 

Uhh, if that was a new Cobra, you would have gotten destroyed, no question.

ok just looked it up, on a dyno the stock 03 SVT Cobra makes 340 to the wheels. that's insane. my wrx only makes 216.

when they rev at me i rev back and just let them take off... not worth the stress on my car to try and drag race a v8.. i dont really drag race anyone but my friends anyways its boring and takes no skill (besides being able to shift). im sure u woulda had more fun if the cobra d!ckhead met you on the twisties.

I believe the cobra uses a 4.6L engine, not a 5.0L.

5.0, 4.6....basically the same ancient engine ford's been using since the 80's with some new technology added on.
