We have some HID kits instock, try calling (510) 783-5300 and asking for Preston on Monday to check on whether we have the correct sets for you instock.

Thats what I was afraid of. Next question then - Is it going to be cheaper for me to buy an STi HID kit, or get mine retrofitted? I'd like to be without my headlights for as little time as possible
.
I guess, what can Bay Area people recommend? - if there is a local place that will retrofit, that would be awesome, though I doubt it. Otherwise, recomendations? I had HID on my last car, and can't live without it.

I've read the thread and know the issues. Was more of looking fo ra recomendation on a local place that might be willing to do it for me (I am reasonably good with parts, etc, but I dont have the tools or materials to do a proper job on something as important as my headlamps.

I'm pretty unhappy with just slapping a set of ballast and bulbs on the stock housings. One my way back from tahoe the glare was ferocious.
Here's a pic of the beam pattern. I have 6000k rebased H1 bulbs in stock housings

I have JDM STi headlights sitting right next me(from jdmpartstx) , I'm just waiting for my leveling switch to come in.
I'm pretty finicky about my lighting though, I had E46 projectors retrofitted in my accord, and that's how light should be. If the STi housings don't live up to my expectations I'll be looking for a set of S2000 projectors to put in them.
This was the light in my accord. Zero glare, with that sharp of a cutoff you can aim a little further down the road without pissing people off as well.

It would probably be much cheaper for you to retrofit a good projector set in your current housings rather than an STi headlamp set(I got mine for a steal and will retrofit them if I don't like the light) All reflector based HID leaves a bit to be desired, projector is the way to go.
He hasn't done a WRX setup yet, but this guy knows his way around retrofits http://www.illusion-lighting.com/ (no affiliation) Real fast turn around. he charges $850 for an ECE retrofit which is a pretty good deal. $200 for new projectors, $150 for new bulbs, $200 for ballasts, and that leave $300 for trim and labor.
