I practically grew up on Hicks, Shannon and Kennedy roads...I've ridden three different motorcycles and driven six different cars on those curves. *Rumor* has it that some kids would drive up there and smoke lots of dope - JRsWRX and SnoHumper speak the truth! If you park at the reservoir, there's a short but steep hike up to a rock with really cool views.

It's a mountain road which has pavement which tends to get pretty bad before it gets fixed. Like any mountain road, go slow the first few times until you get to know it. Also, watch out for deer, especially in late summer/early fall before it rains.

i grew up in almaden.

i used to haulll down that road all the time in high school, and when i returend home for the holidays. i've even crashed my wrx there once in 2002.

it's pretty fun, tight, but road condition is not really that great... not smooth as some other roads ou there...good chance of ice/dirt all over the place during this season, and always a good chance of a big pile of horse **** in the middle of the road, as lots of people in that area own horses.

there used to be street signs that were littered with shotgun pellet holes...i think the old folk don't like us loud cars going through old almaden at the end of hick's road.

edit:

too bad you didn't ask me last year or over this past summer, Ave...my buddy is cool with every cop that worked almaden area from Tues - Fri nights, and we had a free pass to go play on that road.

not anymore though...
