Group buy: Studio pics of your car

Thinking outloud: I'm not sure if anyone has ever wanted a studio shot of their car, but I can do a backdoor/group buy if you do. My bro-in-law is the stage manager for a studio in Pleasanton (www.GoalLine.com) that does filming for commericals, interviews, various TV stuff and photography. He was showing me the lighting he did on these cars for various photoshoots (all done on different days, and the companies that did it paid about $2,000+ for each one). I want pictures of my truck when I paint it next year and he said if he comp'd his time, it would cost me $1,000-$1,500 to rent the studio and equipment and shoot it. He said if I rolled my Suby in, we could do both for the same price. I asked about rolling all my friend's cars in

So this is what I'm thinking: I'll have to do mine next year, but if we can get enough interest now to split the $1,000-$1,500, I will set it up. The studio has a very nice digital SLR so everyone can take away a CD with their files on it. Once the lighting is setup, we can probably do between 2 and 3 cars per hour. I'm sure we can get pizza there too.

I'm only posting this on BAIC, but we could do any car about the same size (doing a truck or a motorcycle would take an hour to change all the lighting).

-Ben

hmmmmmm......Depending on the progress of my caddy I might be interested in gettin in on this.

It should be flaked and bagged by next year...possibly the body painted as well. if I get around to painting the body then hell yeah i'll be in.

if it's still black then maybe. haaa.

Just keep us posted....maybe give notice like 6-8 weeks or something.

oh...and how many people could he squeeze in.

I mean if it runs like say $1800....is it gonna be like 3 people or 6? Big difference in price.

If it's more than $200, then I'm out. I think it's doable if we can get 10 people. If we can only get 2 cars shot in an hour, we can still bust out 16 cars on a Saturday. 10 people minimum, 16 people maximum??

I'd probably be in for that price. How much for prints or for the files so we can self print?

I know a guy that does canvas printing.

I've got a couple buddies lined up to do shots of my car but it would be a cool opportunity to do studio shots.

I was going to put the RAW files (or large .tiffs) on a CD and everyone would have the rights to their own photos. You can then print it where ever you want.

That is a very good deal - are you getting the photographer for free?
Seriously the light setup looks great - the window wall (prop in the first shot) is nice

Free photographer. My brother-in-law shot those, so he could shoot ours. We could rent props (like in the first pic), but everyone would have to agree on them.

sweet.

Backdrop would be cool. Maybe something old. Like an old garage or old town or something like that. It would look cool with my old car and be cool contrast for the new ones. I might do both my cars.

props as in models? I'd go for a girl wrenching on my car in a bikini.

You'll have to bring your own girls. They're probably too expensive to rent.
