Going to San Diego, I went 25E to 198N the mountains to the North, which was fast with lots of curves to highway 5.
On the way back, I went 101 > Bradley Rd > Hare Canyon Rd. (rustic single lane farm road with lots of patches through grazing lands) > Indian Valley Rd. (long fast straights with lots of blind crests with turns) > 25W. On the way back at dusk, I had to jam to a stop because of a wild boar crossing the road

For those traveling at night/dusk -- zero overhead lights.

I was there last week too, and I'm going back tomorrow!
(here is the sign for the same stretch of road, but from the "other end"- this is the north end)

But I'm turning off 25 on the Coalinga road, to go rockhounding at Clear Creek, the Coalinga road is also a good twisty one...

Also did your wheels come in black or did you have them painted black? Cause you know what they say, "Once you go black you never go back" or is that refering to something else . . . .

Hows the CHP'age on that road, can you match HWY 5's 80MPH?

25 is narrow- 2 lanes, and has very few straightaways, as the sign mentions.
you might see a CHP on it, more likely to see a Sherriff or park ranger, but most of the times I've driven it its pretty empty.
Its a whole different experience than I-5's 80 mph cruise control snoozefest, think early apexing fast sweepers for 60 miles, because when you get to the end of 25, you still have a lot of turns before you come out anywhere near a real town, (if you can call Coalinga a real town).
If you are in a hurry to get to LA, stick to 5, but if you have a little extra time and don't mind using your brakes and steering its 25 FTW.

Thats awesome to hear, all the pics in the link ironically show straightaways, i thought that site was more credible than to show 9 pics of straights and 1 curves
What about hwy 33 out of Gorman into Ventura? (going south)
Ive always wanted to explore but im always in a hurry.

Count on it taking 2-3 hours to cover what, about 80 miles? vs an hour and a half to go 75 miles via I-5 and 126- and 126 has some nice sections to it as well.
