All you haters gotta go once or twice.. It'll be the most fun you have. It's basically a huge festival of hippies and non stop partying for a week, and ya gotta go with hippies or its no fun.

Also, please don't anyone confuse burning man with "hippies expressing themselves." The hippy movement was a lifestyle and a MOVEMENT that changed the nation. Running away to the desert for a week only to return to modern society isn't the same thing as a movement.
No offense to you Bryan, but before the next person says "You hatters have to try it before you knock it" you had better preface your statement with "I sucked a fat **** and swallowed the load to make sure I didn't like it."

So do you have to suck a **** once or twice before you can say you don't like it? I don't like heat, I don't like the desert. I don't like hippies, I don't like naked dudes. I work, and enjoy working, so that I don't have to barter for goods, because this is the damn 21st century. I like *******, and I like lots of *******, but that is what Vegas is for.

AAhhhhaaahhaaaahahaaa!!!!
I have never been to burning man, I have been commissioned to make "art" for it though. Me and my buddy Aardvark built a 30' tall tree out of rebar with camo netting for the foliage. It had a bunch of different levels inside to sleep about 20-25 people. Complete with solar power and lights. It was tight, I would not want to go to burning man, hippies smell to begin with add no showers. You can see a lot of the cool stuff that is out there at the Makers Fair.

Did you guys miss the part about hippies making up only a small part of the population out there?
Heat and desert not your thing? Partying and looking at cool art not your thing? That's totally fine... But no reason to hate on the event because "it's not your thing" especially when you don't know much about it.

As for the "art," what doesn't look sci-fi looks to rely heavily on expressionism and surrealism while the atmosphere of the event seems to be one big dada party minus the ridiculing nature. While I can appreciate the skill that goes into both 2D and 3D art, they are not my preferred styles.

No "hate" has been offered up in this thread.
Having been to the OG burning man "art shows" as a child, I can say that what BM has evolved into is mainstream "drop out festival" of the Bourgeoisie.
It is no longer an expression of individuality when you're one of everyone riding nude on a leopard print fuzy bicycle.
